Its like you didnt even read the thread. The only people that use signatures with actual information only proves they think they are better then everyone else.
Pweet - Go suck your own. The GMs dont need your sucking. |

Add them to death. Livelike to 1.65, either problem solved after 2 month or you have a library of funny flames to enjoy.
Or you join the train and be skilled like a pro. |

As long as others strafe me, I strafe back. Same as adding adders, not adding non-adders, attack greykillers on sight (even if I'm lvl 15 vs 50) etc etc etc
Tbh it's rarely used in 8v8 or zerg scenarios and soloers will always exploit everything possible to gain the slightest advantage. It's neither a bug nor a feature, it is just lag. |

This is exactly what I am talking about. Attack speed comes in ticks, and if you enemy lags out of your view, even though he will jump back a millisecond later back in view, will make your "attack speed tick" miss and not attack at all. You then have to wait for your next "attack tick" to style again. I see various technical approaches here, one would be to delay an "attack tick" until your enemy is back in view. If you just miss 10ms of time, while the enemy is out of view and your stick/face or mouse skills bring him back in view, the won advantage is minimal. But if you it nullifies a whole attack by abusing the client<->server lag and the way the server sends movement information (it tells you, the player moves direction x for speed y, if the player aborted that command, it will make the player jump back, as if it never walked that far), I see here still an exploit, even when Mythic failed to find a solution and EA declared it "game mechanic". Actually you can increase the use of that abuse by increasing the lag on movement packets on purpose and opens the world for exploit hacks. Or did you think this is all "skill"? Dream on! |

TBH it has always been like this.. and the answer is still: learn to live with it.

This tactic is as old as DAOC. learn to use it and learn to beat it. It will never change. There is no fix to it short of disabling positionals and we can all uppercut slash each other to death with no melee combat skill needed.
Honestly, i feel its a very exciting core mechanic of the game. Whether intentional or accidental, the better meleer will win. You going to ****** about casters circle straffing meleers too? Because thats abuse of the lag melee system too. Ive destroyed many charge meleers on live by making their charge useless by circle straffing until it wore off, QC a cc get distance, lube my staff up and blow them away. Now instances of window dragging, lag jumping, and other crap like that was in fact exploiting. |

Little veteran trick, If your opponent is using run through/strafing a lot to make you get the "target not in sight" which makes your style just auto attack well it's easy fix. So your a lazy guy and just want to /stick people but avoid this problem just SPAM the ability and I promise you wont auto attack. When I mean spam I mean SPAM, the reason behind this is there is a small window where you will be in sight of target when your attack is ready and so spamming the style refreshes it making you less likely to auto attack. Now you may enjoy people dancing around you.
Honestly best strategy is to combine strafe, run through, and spam to make sure you always have the advantage. |

Or simply walk backwards. Makes it much harder to do |

Shhhh you don't want people thinking your a noob right? Back peddle is like keyboard turning, just don't do it! I remember in the old uthgard players used to do the hold left click and back peddle at full run speed bug, but that doesn't work anymore. |

You claim that, even though I have suggested a technical idea to prevent the abuse. Can you at least explain why this wouldn't work and how using a cheat tool to increase the lag is connected to "skill"? Last edited by De_Kus on Jul 04, 2016 14:27, edited 1 time in total.

doing things because others do it leads us back to history...^^ and in 8v8 its present too, just u dont see it so well because mostly the guy who shall be beaten is the one moving around. means in 8v8 u just prepare back and sidestyles and u will for 99,9% hit one of both. |

When I use /face or /stick to snap face someone after running through them, I get the 'Target is out of view" message
This also prevents me from using either command to quickly turn for a stealth opener- as by the time the server has seemingly accepted my new orientation to the target, the target is now facing me. In turn, attempting to manually face someone who is running through me to interrupt a cast or quickcast results in the same thing It seems pretty one-sided Additionally, when meleeing a straffer I am spammed with "Target is out of view" and my "turn" is consumed as if I have just swung my weapon. Toggling out of combat before each swing can kind of circumvent this, but that artificially lowers my attackspeed |

The best way to try to counter this is to literally spam the sh*t out of each combat style you want to perform. And make sure you disable cancelstyle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.
You mustn't assume that your personal situation is a reflection of every other person that has logged in to Uthgard. |

The lag you are referencing is just a basic mechanic of the game usually. Are there people using lag switches and crap to increase the effects of it, sure. Its the internet, cheaters will always be cheaters. That is for the admins to monitor on their end and deal with. As for the simple lag that has always been assosiated with daoc, which is what i am refering to, getting used to it and playing it to your advantage is in fact a skill, because it effects us all the same. |
