When will hunters be fixed?

Placing charmable mobs in emain with any kind of ability would be a good step from staff.
At the moment it's not worth to skill beastcraft just for... ... Speed: good, but low one is enough ... AF & DexQui: good, but both can be charged ... the instant pet: bad, the only thing it does is interrupt, and a low one does that, too ... charm abilities: bad, it's not worth to charm mobs, they are even worse than the instant pet. And most available charmable mobs are lower than 42. ... pet buff: bad, it has no big influence. So just 3/6 things are useful - it's just a waste to spend so much points on it! For comparison, what rangers get from their pathfinding line is: AF, DexQui, Str, DmgAdd, Speed. 5/5 are useful, spec it! |

@Snigel, I also counted the chargeable buffs as useful, read my post again
![]() On Uthgard, Rangers get a lot more usability from speccing points in pathfinding than hunters get from beastcraft, it is like it is ![]() This could simply be improved a little by placing useful charmable mobs in the frontiers. This is something that every GM can do. Last edited by Rector on Sep 09, 2011 14:01, edited 1 time in total.

Pet = rupt on range, prevent from re-stealth, ...
If you really think it's useless then you do not fully understand the hunter class. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Most of the enemies a hunter faces are assasins. What do you want to rupt there?
And as I wrote above: A low pet rupts as good as a high one, so this is no reasing speccing beastcraft. Same goes for preventing to restealth. Last edited by Rector on Sep 09, 2011 14:12, edited 1 time in total.

In that case, you should be happy that you get the benefits already from low points in BC, leaving you more points to put into other lines.
And what enemies you face depends on your playstyle really. Hunters have the advantage that MMG is usually not camped as heavily as AMG is. So while, say, scouts need to pass AMG to get to other places in Emain, hunters can freely choose where to go. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

I agree with you that BC might not boost pure melee dmg as much as Pathfinding does, but personally I think it's easier to find a good hybrid or sniperspec for hunters than for rangers.

Sure.
Anyways, it's clear that the ranger is a stronger class than the hunter. And one reason for that is, that putting points in pathfinding makes a ranger stronger, while this can not be said about speccing beastcraft for the hunter. And this is a point, where staff should work on. |

Blue works on mob dmg btw. (which also affects all kind of pets).

Your´re kinda right and wrong Rector:
I´m playing my ranger as a 100% sniper and any hunter would benefit from beastcraft when playing the same way ... I won´t get it anyway why all rangers and most of the hunters trying weird hybrid or melee speccs. It´s just not the way this class is meant to be played ... by the way, if you guys want better performance roll rangers ![]() Satas Hakx - various artists

Yah, Edgtho would be the person that I would get ALL my hunter advice from if I ever made one. I'm not saying that hunter does not have some broken mechanics. I agree that BC is underperforming because of lack of pets to charm, but spec'ing in BC does have some advantages. Those advantages will also increase if and when they ever make the 2 charge/barrell limit since you will be able to cast 2 buff spells on top of having the 2 charges/barrels. Also, doesnt BC give you a speed boost just like the ranger's SoS? I'm almost 100% sure it does, so really the only thing you are lacking is the STR and DMG Add buff's from path, which are nice I will admit. I will say that I'm pretty sure Edgtho changed his spec from solo to more group oriented. He might not have, but I havent seen him out in awhile and when I have he's been in duo or trio with visi's. Also, @ Pil, your comment about scout made me laugh

I'm not sure if you saw a different video but why do you refer to edgetho.
He plays the hunter without any ideas, and makes basic mistakes like facing the one enemy while he knows a second NS rr2 lol is arround. Then he sees a minstrel so far so good but he still gets both dds + mezz? Would rather ask another hunter. |
