Armsman or Paladin?

I want to know which class is the better tank here on Uthgard. I am perfectly fine with playing either one, I just feel the need to play a tank once again.

If you wanna play Grp RvR,and deal damage go for Merc. If you feel like a masochist that wants to do visible solo, go Merc. Armsmen and Paladin both can only guard in a Grp, and while with NF RAs Paladin is the better choice due to his chants, with Old RAs it will be obsolete cause of missing DET for Hybrids.

I will go with Paladin in this case. I already know that Mercenaries are the most popular for their damage plus the fact that they will have DET after old RA's. However, I'm not going to play a different class because someone says my class will be worthless at some point.

I didn't ignore the answer given about what I asked....I asked about armsman and paladin. The answer I got about those two was the fact that a paladin was better atm. I did not ask anything about a mercenary in my original post.

to speak for arms:
soloing is fine with arms if u dont mind being zerged from time to time - in 1on1s good arms only really lose to RAs like vanish, sos and stuff - in plain fights vs for example rangers or ns arms does pretty good...in grps...well...i guess merc would, right now, be better choice due to charge 3 being practically anytime up, which improves initial dps etc. - in some grps arms would be better as guarder though pole-dmg is fine as well... with old RAs i guess pala wont be a good choice, as you'll stand in mezz/root a lot, which is fine as a guarder (if the guarded ones really stay with u while in root for example)...arms and merc will be fairly the same then ![]() edit: i know u didnt ask about merc - just wanted to give some comparison ![]() |

You can counter vanish easily with just using the book of chaos charge. I get almost all the vanish chicken with this one awesome charge =) But Armsman as a solo class is one of the worst choices, then I would rather go for reaver. Visible solo is sensless anyway but thats another topic. Those chickin vanishing cuz instead of adding fights you duoing them? ![]() Anyhow just go with the class you like to. Both are viable choices anyhow. But at least atm you will have way better chances to find grps on Pally. Soloing can be fun on both classes, too ![]() |

Against decent players, vanish is just a waste of points due to book of chaos. Assasins need all their realmpoints till at least 7l4, so all of them who skill vanish are just skilled badly.

I don't think that people spec vanish to escape, but mostly as a 2nd purge for 5pts

Are hybrid pallies viable on Uthgard? I see a whole lot of s/s spec and an extreme aversion to twohanded.
Something along the lines of: 42-44 chants 42 shield 29 slash 39 twohanded scraps in parry ------ playstyle would be mostly as a peel tank: slam, swap to 2h, rear snare. if for some reason there was a chance to join the dps train: slam, swap to 2h, side style. Even with the alleged lower to-hit on this server, one would think that the higher utility of the 2h line would still make it more viable than speccign higher slash or parry. Or is it so horrifically broken that I shouldnt bother? The reason for the question is that im rolling a pally, and need to AT if i go hybrid, but can easy mode if I go s/s. |

problem occurse on 2 handed damge part(for paly purpose low ws )even if a paly specs on 2 handed his damge wont go up alot(1 hadner paly does 90 130 with 2-2.7 sec interwalls of hitng wihle 2 hadner does 190-230 in 4-5.1 speed interwals so wasting points on 2 handed is meaning less here if you jsut wana be a gimp like me:)
