i think its bullshit to call the rvr we had before fastfood rvr. its just the best rvr the playerbase can provide. we dont have an ultra large playerbase where every guild gets a 8 man fotm group to rvr in the way mythic wanted to do it.
70% of all uthgard rvrers run solo or in small, not perfected groups. because of this, some players lame around in camps cause if you got a trio you dont want a so called "fair fight" against a 6 man group on free field.

so i really dont see problems with the campguards. if a good 8 group is running, they wont need guards to compense anything and can fight in distance to the camps but all others might need them.
now you die instantly if you run around with a trio and meet a fg in open field, congratulations.

besides, the majority of the players in this forum and ingame want fast incs.
your definition of "real, no-fastfood rvr" seems to need long waiting, idling and running time before something happens.

in this definition, i also want to have fastfood rvr, since i got a life.
some people got jobs or anything and like to play 2 or 3 hours an evening, so it could perhaps be frustrating for them to spend 2 hours for forming perfect matched groups before they can attend in rvr.

on live servers this was not a big deal since you could form a perfect random group in 10-15 minutes because of thousand of peoples playing.

so please stop the live argument, it just dont work for uthgard.

I don't know why people get so angry when we change rvr zone. When we left Emain for agramon first time (it was ridicolous only emain if you think about it now) many people left the rvr because "they said it was no good".

Yesterday I played some hours in agramon and had always enemies. In the evening every time we reach the centre of agramon we had an inc with a fg (and only 2 times being addeed).

The most beautiful thing anyway is to run in agra without worries of people running to camp to their long-range-aggro guards :D

This is the problem. Most of time there are 150+ players each realm and max 15 in rvr. I don't believe only 15 people got lv 50 char^

What I hate most is when you got a group of 6-7 people, just killed by a fg and you look for a sham/tank/anything, write in broad and wait for 20 minutes before /quit because none came.

It would help a command like /lfmrvr where you can put a request like "need sham" and every player with /lfmrvr can see it :D

We could use the lfg option already existing but it seems none knows it exists :|

Why this argument about how to name the gameplay experience?
What matters is the gameplay experience itself. And in that respect forced breaks are not an improvement, but a nuisance. It is somehow claimed, that gameplay with the camps as they were, was too easy and lacking in quality. But those measurements are not applicated in the right way here.

Easy as opposite to difficult would usually suggest few challenges, but the time needed for getting to Agramon for example by introducing timed teleporter delays is not a challenge. It is an enforced break in gameplay and hence not welcomed by the players. Don't argue, that players occasionally like to take breaks, because they always can, regardless of being forced to it or not.
There is of course still the negative effects of sickness that do enforce some kind of break. But that is different, as it is percieved as a consequence of the personal actions.

Quality on the other hand is nowhere defined and purely subjective to personal preferences.

my rvr experience for some months.

i remember when there were only some guild groups in agra that affraided any random group.

step by step random groups appeared cause they were able to fight with the other random groups around. fight die rebuff and spend more time in fight than buffing...

a week ago maybe we built a smei random group, fight a mid group, fight a second one just in the raw, hib add the fight and finally we die in a fight versus another mid group. RvR was impressiv and nobody got real problems with camps cause there were fun around and it was not a good idea to stay at camps.

but a day, camp disapeared... and since this moment nada, big void.

except some guild group/zerg that take keeps... let's hope the other groups will follow soon...

do you really think people will sit in border keeps forever and wait to form a random group ?

you dont have to?

just run out in small grps

why do people always go: oh we need 8 to move into rvr zone

ofc 3-5 cant compete with 8 but hell you can always find some solos or duos to run down

avoid the big grps if needed

problem is atm that everyone goes: oooh no action i dont go (like in the old days - anyone remember?)

just go out there - once people hear: oh 4 man hibs, 3 man alb 8 man mid grp out - people start relogging to agra toons

so

The problem is if you take a tower and people can't port to crau/bled/beno they just won't go to rvr... I guess they don't know the way to Agramon, or they are afraid of water so boats are out of the question.
Anyway, teleporters of some sort would be a good idea, cause the community is obviously too lazy.
The world will look up and shout "Save us!"...and I'll whisper "NO U."

buffup(1-2mins)
port camp
go MG and camp (1-10mins for inc)
die
rebuff(1-2mins)
port with res sick

--------------------
go MG
add(1min)

That's only 1 possible situation, the most time it's like that you partly wait for your rezz-sick if you don't want to get farmed by a stealther paing you at @ mg and then you have to move to amg or mmg or center and that even takes hmn maybe about 2-4 min ? Then you might don't find anyone while running to mg or camping @ mg and then you have to roam....

That's how I experienced it most time, but that also depends on your luck finding enemies.

And furthermore you can teleport on live to every keep, so you buff up, wait for illness-timer and move with hastenerspeed and if you port to Crauchon you just need to roam in the area around dc and you can find several solos or even a fg.

-------------------------------

15mins for 2 meals? ;) i find that fastfood

=====SUGGESTION===== (by Blue)

So this his how I understand the idea Blue proposed.

There is an Agramon Teleporter with the following aspects:

- You can not port to agramon when you don't own your keep towers.
- If you do, you will get ported to the area between A: Bridgehead END (Agramon ground starts here) and B: The Cata TOWER (here is where the roads split up)
- There will be timed ports, like 1 port every 5 minutes.
- Drop-off point will have NO GUARDS and NO CAMPS, only RANDOM SPOTS (there have to be a large number of possible spots in order to make this work imo, 10-15).

Now what I like to add to this idea is:

- You can port to the KEEP, regardless of what towers you hold in order to not push the action back all the way to the central keeps. Only if the keep is taken you will have to port to the central keep and take a boat.

This way you will be able to port to Agra if you have all towers, and port to the keep if you are missing towers. This in order to prevent the RvR zone from expanding too far too fast.

- Implement the /rvrchannel option that will be able to be toggled on by EVERYONE who wants to. If you type (for instance) /rvr on, you will have the rvr channel enabled and will be able to use it as a channel to look for or offer rvr characters. This will increase the number of ppl in Agra because also alts can get see whats going on and whats needed. They will be able to log their mains whenever their class is needed. Currently alts below 43 are locked out of the RvR action.
[ALTERNATIVE]: Every realm creates a CG for Agra RvR. Someone makes a public chatgroup where everyone who wants to can ask for members or just join to keep up to date (for instance with an alt). HOWEVER this will be far from active all the time and I can see a lot of people refusing to join or whatever but I think it's a good idea to get some more action going if ALL REALMS do it.

Haldan wrote:Yesterdays statistics have shown us about 100-150 active players within NewFrontiers. That is to be honest as almost exactly the same amount as it was before the teleporters got removed. Of course statistics won't tell you anything about the player-movements within the zones and we are aware that mostly solo players traveltime between hotspots has risen. Thatfor we are currently discussing possible counter-measures like for example BlueMs supposed timed teleporter system.

Please note that we have always dislike a so called "fast-food rvr", a type of RvR which offers players an instant return to the place of fight, because it totally works against the original RvRsystem of DAoC which when DAoC was released offered a 15min? timed mass-teleport in order to simulate resupply of troops on the battlefield. We do not want to annoy our players, but we will always focus on our concept and adjust mechanics if we feel an urge to do so.

We are going to watch and analyze RvR and friendly ask you to only post fair comments.

1. I was one of those 100-150, i didnt take part in RvR though, was chatting mostly.

2. In the beginning you could not even bind at the border keeps, you had to bind in a city nearby, then walk or ride to the border keep and then port after waiting up to 15 Minutes. But it was changed long before 1.80.
I think we all agree that that is totaly undesired by all players.
The RvR-sickness is there to prevent people from being effective with sickness and the effects stack.
Multiple stacking RvR sicknesses is the original, classic, Mythic way of handling the Problem.
Preventing people from going back into a fight with even one RvR-sickness is not classic, its not pre 1.80 its a custom Uthgard change that totaly works against the concept of RvR-sickness.

How do you come to that conclusion? With my proposal you are in the old camp spot after 5 min. With enough time to prepare and buff BEFORE you port.

So its more like:
- Die
- Port to home keep
- Wait MAX 5min for port to Agramon Milegate. Buff up while waiting.
- Ported -> Same location like camps had after max. 5 minutes -> no Sickness on arrival.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
