Terrible Vista Lag Spikes.

I have been looking around for a while now for a fix to this but so far have not been able to find it. What is going on is out of nowhere I get these terrible lag spikes. I have a good computer that runs this game without a problem, and 95% of the time i dont have any trouble with lag or bad frame rates or antyhing, but every now and then the lag spikes pop up and last for anywhere between 3-10 seconds.
Ive asked some people in game about it and they told me it was related to vista and that they have seen a fix for this, but could not remember were they had seen it or what it was. So that is why I am here now. How do I fix this issue? Theres nothing worse than when your in the middle of a big RvR fight and all of a sudden you get hit with a lag spike that lasts for 5 sec. Thanks, Tipsee |

if u run dual core try make it so that game runs only on 1 core
that sometimes might explain the lag spikes anyways it might just be the game its pretty old and lag spikes are known even for high end computers |

have the same on single core win xp.
even solo in sh when the next player is 3 zones away, off hours, network monitor shows no action whatsoever, no unwanted background programs, no constanyl looking autoupdater, and still, i have legspikes around at least once every 2 mins with middle lagmeter turning red and all few seconds turning yellow. i consider just brushing my hdd and go from fresh by now, especially since im closing in on 50 rvr and most times ppl beam around for over 500 units stunned. I play with vista and a dual core, I've never had lagspike caused by loadings but only from connection trouble.
I've never heard too about some vista problem and its fix for daoc. You could try to set a better framerate in the game settings. Anyway how much RAM do you have? |

Vista runs quite fine for me. (Vista64, 4GB RAM)
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later. If you are talking about bad fps you might have a problem with your graphic settings (the ones you change in your graphics driver, not the ones in game.)
Try to uncheck forced AA and Anisotropic Filtering, worked for me. Seems everytime my card tried to render a certain kind of tree my framerate went below 5. (Vista 64/8800GTS/4GB Ram) If it is your connection lagging maybe check for other programs sucking up your bandwidth. Certain Antivirus software loves to do that. |

Vista does not make any problems.
Running it with 2.6GhZ single core and 1.5 GB RAM. There sometimes are some lags which are caused by my graphic device. Just check you lag- o- meter: PING LAG FRAMES If it gets red by the frame icon or switches to a triangle you should know what the problem is. I never heard about a fix for DAoC and lag problems I think that is just a myth. |

And Daoc runs fine on Windows 7 x64 just FYI

As well as Windows 7 x36.
Random for me, but I had to set my dual core to single from time to time. If it's lagging... TASKMGR -> Right click game.dll -> Set Affinity -> Usually uncheck Core 0 |
