roflmao @poplik.. haha.. thas harsh.. there are some good soloers and group sorcerers out there..

as far as speccing goes, i agree with nixian, but don't make the mistake of going fully mind after levelling if you plan on solo'ing.. mind sorc is good for groups but there's enough of them aorund already.. every sorc at bg i know are going full mind.. go mind and body.. matter is useless :D

Couple of specs to consider:

39 body
37 mind

Here you get a yellow AoE mez and yellow PoM. At 39 body you get the second AoE root and higher damage on your DD.

44 mind
31 body

This is the highest lvl AoE mez and PoM.

I'm currently 39/37, like it okay. I went straight to 32 mind for pets and BG mez but really had to rely on groups to level, as it's a terrible PvE spec. If you're planning on solo'ing I'd make sure to spec some body for damage. Just my two cents.

How does 37 mind affect your charm at high levels? Isn't it near impossible to charm level 45-50 mobs unless you have extremely high mind spec?

why is everyone thinking sorc is a damagedealer?
is one of the most utility supporter classes..
has AE-debuffs
has base debuffs
has resi debuffs to support other casters
has root
has AE-root
has mezz
has AE-mezz
has confuse
has amnesia
can charm usefull pets (as long as he find some)

on the other hand he got for damage:
base lifetap
spec DD
DoT

if look on that the sorc is not realy meant to make damage..its a tool to make it easier for the group..but so far just one or two ppl on the server realized that
i miss my Lady....

You can play a sorc both ways. :)

When I played sorc I never drove, just used to be a second sorc in group and interupt / debuff-MA for a R11 fire-wiz and ocasionally DD if I noticed the other group's healers being interupted.
We ran a caster setup - 2 sorcs, 2 clerics, 1 minst, 2 cabbies, 1 wiz.

Basically, from my experience, a good sorc uses all of its tools. Ignoring the DD is just as bad as ignoring amnesia. :)

Because combined with a cabalist and another twospec mind/body sorc in the group you'll have one hell of an assist and lots of utility.

As far as solo casters go, the Sorc is the best. Back in the day I was 40/36 Body/Mind and could take out FG's of PUGS solo when MOC was up. MOC Down, I took out the casters and left the rest mezzed or rooted. No other caster can claim the kind of utility & damange that the sorc has. The 39/37 is the popular solo spec these days, but it's also VERY groupable as you get Mez and Root + all the other CC spells. The sorc is among the worst in terms of PVE leveling, but PVP it's in the top 2 among all the realms. MOC+Lifetap = Dead Tanks!

moc+lifetap+rr5+pd+debuffs (+purge2 vs slammers) ;)

sorcs and cabas are very strong casters no doubt.
