It destroys the balance between the Realms.

Most Xrealmler switch to have any kind of benefit.
If they have choosen one Realm, they have to stay for 24h ? on it.
After that they could switch...for the next 24h

and the good players join the loosing team to have fun... that seems oki to me if lowbies join winning team and good players the loosing one... that helps to the fairplay

Exactly. People should not log realm X for xp-ing faster because of the bonuses, people should not log realm X for RP bonus because keep owning, people should not log realm X for DF open or anything else.

This way certain "population imbalances" will dissapear and people wont log bg x or realm x for breaking that balance that lot of people remided of.

Realms should have a static population and be more balanced like all want. X-realm its just an issue from whole of this concept.

This way is better and this is the way should be.

ye,got your point, was stuck on the spying one that someone else said and i missed this one, so let's hope will bring balances;)

On live server you can log from one account on one realm only. So for the second realm you need second account, wich you pay for. So let's be LIVELIKE and allow only one realm for one ip. So if some1 logs from same ip on other account should not be able to do it unless other realm accounts are deleted.

I bet x-realmers will be happy about it.

i clearly vote no ;)

I'm bumping this up again because of a few conversations I had with some people over the past few weeks. I think the issue presented in this thread is still a key problem here on this server.

I had several people in my own realm message me telling me to not kill their friends who were currently playing in the other realm. I even had one person tell me that I was a bad person and player for killing their friend (who was playing an infiltrator at that time) while they were killing other hibs and this particular hib was standing by letting this happen!!!

What this means in short is that very few people seem to have any sense of realm pride or commitment to any particular realm due to the open nature in which they can cross between realms to play other characters. I think this aspect of play here bleeds down to thse very core issues of being able to trust / identify with the people playing on your side. For instance, why would a person who primarily plays midgard want to raid mid relic while they are playing on their hib character? There maybe 100 hibs on out of 300 players so technically the populations would be even with the other realms but what if 50 of these hibs play primarily midgard and have no interest in raiding mid relic since it would only hurt them when they logged in later to their midgard characters? If this server is going to be geared towards actual RvR then such thinking and behaviors cannot be tolerated in my view. The realms are supposed to be at war with one another, not friends, and certainly not allies.

I think people should be made to have a choice of which realm to choose, and highly incentivised to stay in that realm. I think the current openess on uth merely makes a situation where people go around each realm and "make friends" and ultimately in the end why would someone beat up on their friend? This scenerio looks more like friendly duels PvP than RvR. I think that if someone wants to make friends, then they need to stick to that realm in which their friends reside in. There should be some consequence on the player's part to any decision to change realms. If they dont want to lose contact or the ability to play with their friends regularly then they need to stay in the same realm. My recommendation would be to do the following:

I'd make it a 24 hour (7 DAYS IDEALLY) lock beginning from the time the player logs out of their current account and into another realm. That way the player has to choose if they wish to play hib, mid, or alb that particular day as opposed to playing hib for x minutes/hours and logs to mid/alb.

I guess the real question is, what prevents someone with 10 accounts from creating 10 seperate e-mail addresses, then changing ips once they log, then log into the next account under a different ip?

I'd like to see an additional component added to this in the form of a standalone application that is required to run and be operating in the background. This application would check harddrive IDs and report this info to uth server when the person logs in with an account. If the HD id's dont match what is associated with the registered account then the user is rejected from logging into any account.

For example the application is required to download and run during the registration process. When run, the app will prompt the user to enter their desired info (account name, pw, e-mail address for the account) and sends this off to uth registration. The user now has an account registered and their Hardware ID is recorded and sent off to be stored in an UTH DB. The player can login to uth using daoc portal but in order to be connected to uth server, the application has to be run and validate the login request from the current user. Since the application is required to run in the background each time the player logs in, no one can get onto uth without first having verified they are the person who originally made the account since it is linked to the PC used to register.

An option could be placed on the application if the person is changing hardware or accessing the account. Clicking this would update the current info registered to the person's account after revalidating the new hardware. To my knowledge one cannot fake hardware ID authentification. A timer could be set preventing a player from revalidating multiple times in a day. For example if a revalidation is done, then the account is banned from use for a 24 hour period (or whatever time is deemed appropriate) This would prevent exploitating the use of the validation process to log in from another machine and so forth.

Ultimately what this would do would be to encourage people to stay in a particular realm and due to the lock out timers it would make it very inconvenient to 'cross realm.' Hopefully the inconvenience will be enough so that people decide on their own to stay in their respective realm and hopefully this builds a more RvR themed atmosphere since players will actually be in competition with one another instead of being pals with everyone in each realm. Players who seriously want to relocate to another realm have that option made available through this proposal since no one is forbidden from owning or operating multiple accounts across realms; only their access to the accounts is limited.

I am sorry, but I don't think Uthgard staff or anyone else has the right to know my Hardware ID, that is invasion of privacy, that would also inconvenience people who play on different computers (at work, at home...) and it brings out the question that has already been brought up in this same topic before and that is logging of friends accounts (that class is needed for setup, you need to craft yourself something, you need to farm some money and your friends character is better suited for that...). Something less drastic might be in order (like a timer on ip or something), we have enough restrictions because of the "THIS IS A FREESHARD WICH YOU DON'T PAY AND YOU DON'T OWN THOSE CHARACTERS/ACCOUNTS SO IT'S OUR WAY OR NO WAY" policy. And all that for the realm thing, well if someone calls you a bad person for killing a player of the enemy realm you should just put them in the idiot category of players and ignore them, but also you can't force people to play "FOR TEH REALM!!1", that is one step toward forcing people to roleplay.
The world will look up and shout "Save us!"...and I'll whisper "NO U."
