Here is what happenned:
1. Dinged lvl 5, as Elementalist
2. Visited Wizard trainer in cots
3. Joined Wiz class at cots trainer
4. Dinged lvl 6, without doing anything
5. Could not use full respec

Is this how it's supposed to work? Or have I lost my respec for good?

Is the respec supposed to be used _before_ going to your advanced class trainer?

invest another 30mins of your time and lvl to 5 again

you aren´t supposed to keep that lvl5 respec anyway.

in alb ? nah. its 5 quests and killing 2 mobs. if you prefer hitting mobs and wait for mana then it takes longer.

And losing the level5 full respec at level 6 is just normal. Thats the way it works, you get the respec at level5 and lose it as soon as you ding level 6. Its the same with the line respecs at level 20 and 40, you will lose them at 21/41.

Live with it ;-)

i suppose his main intention, was that he got somehow a lvlup to lvl6 without having any chance to use the respecc? (see also topic name).

did i understand right?

If you make level 5 and you don't go to a specialization trainer, you can still get exp but you will see just 9,99 bubble in the exp bar.

When you chose a specialization class the exp you got since you are 5.99 doesn't disappear, but it is counted and, if it's enough, it raises your level.

I don't know if it's so on live, but this is how it works on dol shards.

Yes, you did.
I was given level 6 w/o gaining any xp at all.
The general consensus on this bug seems to be, 'Too bad, wait until to Lvl 20 or go reroll a new char."

I would not normally complain about a free level; it's the fact that this one kept me from being able to respec.

Demiurgos explanation seems logical. Just to make things sure, we won't give any free respecs out unless there really is a bug. The discussion is senseless.

If you are not willing to play another char to level 5 (you could have done half the way if you'd used the time writing your postings here) how do you think you will be able to reach even 20? ;-)

I do not see any bug at the moment, so just go on, level to 20 or roll a new toon and level to 5.

Just to let you know i've also experienced this bug. Don't know how and can't replicate it but it wasn't due to gaining level 5.9 and then getting pushed to level 6 on training. I was just level 5 when i trained.
Anywho, wasn't bothered as I didn't need a respec but the bug does exist.

As you keep on leveling your char after getting 5 your EXP bar stops at 5.9. visually. But in the background the EXP is still growing. That means you can not level up to 6 if you did not visit your new trainer to choose a class.

By choosing a class the "hidden" EXP will automatically bring you up to 6 and the respec is gone.

That's the only way I can explain the situation in a logical way.

Please read my above post again, It wasn't due to being 5.9 that I got level 6. It happened to me randomly and I was only just 5 when I visited the train. I understand how the hidden XP works but it wasn't that.
Thanks
