Hey all,

Im a new DAoC player, but with enough MMO experience (Lineage2, WoW, AoC, WAR)

When I was looking for a new MMO after recent disapointments (AoC,WAR) and Lineage2 going to ****, I stumbled upon DAoC.

Now my question is: does Uthgard feel like an MMO? Or will I be running around solo for the majority of the time (since DAoC is allready a pretty old game, less interest etc.)

If it is active enough, me and my buddy would love to play here :)

Greetings!

well daoc has been popular for a long time. dunno what you wanna hear :P

it is highly battle oriented , pretty much like lineage2.the speed is about the same.

you level up your toon (usually in groups up to 8 ppl) , explore the world while searching for new mobs to kill / hunt for some gear . best part of daoc is the pvp (called RvR / realm vs. realm) where you can fight other players in 3 unique realms.

each realm got unique classes and races. each class got multiple "skills" to specialize in (each "spec" got its strength and weakness).

daoc currently got the most enjoyable pvp system , kinda surprising if you consider its age.

max char level is 50 - takes quite a bit to reach that (2-8 weeks , depending on how intensive you play).

when you kill an enemy player you will get rewarded with realmpoints . whenever you reach a certain ammount of these "rp´s" your realm rank will rise and you got access to powerfull ra´s (realm abbilities). rvr is the endgame after you´ve reached max level.

just give it a try and find out if you like it.

Thanks for the fast reply Sablei :)

What I was asking : How is the server population? Does it feel like a ghosttown, or is there enough activity going on?

Greetings!

400-500 people playing at the same time during prime time.you can check it >>>here<<<

gonna find people to play with at almost any hour.

this server is very popular and has been up for a couple of years.

-<>-

you can check out the different classes >>>here<<<.

whatever realm you play i would suggest to roll a combo of:

albion
paladin/friar

midgard
shaman/skald

hibernia
warden/valewalker

there are a lot more decent combos out there , but these classes should be good to learn the basics.

When you start, you will be in a Starterguild
so not all alone from the beginning on :D

and there is also a broad channel /b were you can ask for groups to level or RvR.

like "Sablei" ^^ wrote just try and find out

some places might feel like ghost towns (due to some places being highly loved to pve in by players (like darkness falls - rvr dungeon with xp bonus))

but if you just follow other players to where they wanna go you will not at all feel its a ghost world

also /broad is frequently spammed by lvl 40+ in agra :) so you will have lots of chat to read ;)

also try find an active guild :) it makes this whole world a lot more alive

but to be honest - this game is no where near dead (atleast not on uth since it has like 3rd the area to lvl / be in)

join in - get 50 (and enjoy getting there - its quite a journey for your first toon) and learn your toon and get items - farm high mobs - explore - and finally - RVR!!! AND DO LOTS OF IT! you will love it if you like to pvp

if your a duo try roll something that works good together :)

like in hib:
champ/hero/bm/vw + bard/druid/warden
ani/eld/chanter + bard/druid/menta

or something like that - that will make pve much more fun and relaxing than lets say druid + bard duo ;)

if you wanna read up on classes check this out:

http://camelotherald.com/article.php?id=46
http://camelotherald.com/article.php?id=47
http://camelotherald.com/article.php?id=49

a bit misleading on some classes - but def. worth reading if ur 100% new to daoc

also to check out what spells classes got this is prolly the best place:

http://daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder.cfm

that gives huge idea what kind of "spec" you want and what classes are all about

ie. if you check out druid you will see: heals, buffs and root / dot/ pet is 3 different ways to go - however if u also click on eldritch you will see a lot of dmg spells - this is a clear idea that shows that druids are no where near a dmg class but a support class and therefor if u want high dmg u shouldnt roll a druid :)

okay i could keep on going and going and going but ill just refer to these threads:

http://www.uthgard-server.net/modules.p ... pic&t=8753

and

http://www.uthgard-server.net/modules.p ... pic&t=7473

all of theese were found in:

http://www.uthgard-server.net/modules.p ... forum&f=65

good luck :) and have fun with daoc - best MMO ever (played for almost 7 years now and still haven't found a valid replacement)
