I'm compleatly new to DaoC and freeshards and I have some questions. Is it possible for me to play with a game version I can download or do I need to buy the game? And which version of the game do I need to download then if I can play with a downloadable one?

You can download the game completely from camelot-europe.com and play on this freeshard. You just have to buy the game and pay every month, if you want to play on the liveserver from mythic or goa. You can play here with every version. You dont need the extensions SI, TOA or Catacombs, because those features are not yet implemented on this freeshard. The graphic is better with them but they need a bit better hardware. So you can virtually take that version, that you like most .

When you download this you have the choise to pay and play live (on the real GoA/Mythic servers)
or
play for free at one of the freeshards (for example: uthgard)

Thanks for sorting that out, I thought you needed to have the game on cd and could only download the expansions. I'll go install it now them
