Heya, after about a 5 year hiatus from DAoC, I figured I'd come back on the freeshards. I've been playing on Genesis for a bit, to try and get some familiarity with the game again. That being said, I think I'd like to go to a more balanced server, which from what I gather, Uthgard is.

I'm currently considering either a mana chanter (are there any 8 man bomb groups in either of the 3 realms?), or a sorc.

I assume that the RvR at 50 happens on a fairly regular basis here? I usually see that the server has 2-300 online at pretty much all hours of the day.

Also, is there enough of an english speaking population, in all the realms, that I can play whereever I want, without fear of well, not being able to understand anyone? :p I'm an American.

Well, hib in my opinion could do well with more level headed, articulate and proactive folks to fill the leadership void that is currently on the realm (in my opinion). Most groups run melee so you would be hard pressed to find a spot but I suppose if you are patient and resourceful enough you could get a following around you to create caster groups as you seem to be interested in. That would be an interesting change of pace around these parts.

Cool, sounds good. Yeah, I think I might just try to get something going. Back when I played live, I was on Percival/US...there was this group called Palodox that's always stuck out in my mind as an amazing bomb group, so I know something of what they're capable of.

I think I'll go ahead and give it a go. Does the server have any larger guilds on the server for kind of new players?

its not exactly a large guild yet...but im working on it i just started mine a few days ago. called Unknown Entity. i also like to use a caster in rvr and i think i have a couple others who do as well so it might actualy be a good fit for you. lower levels right now too so we can help you get up

if you want in just ask any of my members they can all invite for now

Well, bomb chars are rare in rvr on uthgard. However they do exist...even in solo mode. I'm mana eld atm in agramon.

Casters are always a good choice, the problem is that uthgard is a tank lover server, it's not normal that melees do same or more damage than casters here. Anyway, think that u will easier find group(in rvr) being sorc than mana chanter, but feel free to choose what u like, welcome to uth

vanquish is running a caster setup so check them out if u want regular 8man caster grps

however - id suggest you seek DoC, or MK as the main english speaking guilds out there that i know is established - (sorry guys if I missed your guild - but thats the guys i know is on and english and established :p)

do yourself a favor and do not roll a caster - castingspeed is VERY limited and the dps you are supposed to dish out is mediocore at best.

casters can be fun if played perfectly. but who can claim that here ?

except bds . even if you are playing with your feet only you can kill smth with it. not really challenging though.

Yeah, I figured the castspeed thing might be a problem, this being total classic. I'm not a very good healer; I usually do casters or 2h melee dps classes. I dunno, I played a champ and VW usually back when I played live, 5 years ago. Perhaps I'll give the VW a try again. I'm just so unsure of the balance here, hehe. I was even thinking of going with a charge tank, for the fun of that.

I honestly would like to get into 8v8. I can play at any time of the day (or night, even) to suit a group's timezone, if only I can find one that needs a dps spot filled. If anyone knows one, or is a part of one, feel free to drop me a PM on the boards, I'm honestly open to any realm, long as I know I'll have a spot somewhere when I get my arse to 50, hehe.

not much chances to run into 8v8 here , mids are claiming agramon for their zerging , or better they hate 8v8 comunity ppl but dont worry
all other players except of mid prefer some kind a fair rvr

Dawn Of Chaos and Mystical Knights are the leading english guilds on Hib uthgard.

Both guilds are very friendly -well i hope MK is-

Both guilds are working on a 8vs8 group but DoC is way ahead of MK atm O.o

And DoC is a larger guild. DoC extras you would need to talk to there GM ^^

As for MK we are apart of the DoC /as. ( i want to say the largest /as on hib ) we have a good set up on our guild boards, and peeps are required to check on them weekly, make it easyer to get crafted items, Items and a mini event going, again almost weekly ^^. we also have some basic rules and info that needs to be agreed on first, but after all that we do have some pretty great people in MK. we're still a small guild about 20 regs, but where a very old guild that came from the US live servers Pellinor.
