I am currently using windows vista, I have service pack 2 selected and I have done the update on the DAoC Portal. After I type in the username and password and Hit play I get the
message: "Renderer Creation Failer!"
After windows does it thing I get a window from the DAoC Client Diagnostic that says:

Error: Client Crash before Connect.

Explanation:Your client crashed before it even started connecting. You could try to run camelot.exe with "Check All Files" enabled.

and I did just what it said. Can someone help me out and tell me what to do please.

I have no experiences with windows vista, but maybe try to update your graphic card drivers, google for daoc and vista problems. i googled for german pages and good a few hints on that.

As Wally said, just update your Graphic Card Drivers, in most of "Renderer Creation Failed" Cases it's a damaged, incompatible or outdated d3d or opengl library.

P.S.: Vista SP2 here and no Problems with drivers up to date

mostly happens when your desktop color depth is not set to 32bit ...
happens aswell if using vista and only dx10 is installed -> install dx9 !
may happen if desktop resolution is below 1024x768, for example: 800x600

i guess it's either the color depth or the missing dx9 :)

I havn't tried to update my video card yet I will when I get home...and if that doesn't work i will install dx9 and I will update with my issue after I try to do both of those. and yes I reboted my computer and tried again but it said the same error.

I had often this problem and as far as I know it could be caused by 3 different problems:
1- Your graphic card drivers
2- Your old directX version
3- Not enough RAM

You should try to update gc drivers and directx version, if it's still now working see how much RAM is free and try to close some useless program (like the whole Vista OS :D).

I saw many pc with 1,3+ RAM gb used just with that OS running.

You cant install dx 9 just because vista is delivered with Dx 10 ! ( sad for you ) and its impossible to uninstall dx 10 cuz its an integral part of Vista .
Do a Dxdiag , check the Vdd version of your gfx card , if there is N/A beside instead of a version number , so you will have to properly uninstall all your grafic drivers and then reinstall the last released drivers for your grafic card .

I m running daoc with a laptop wich is based on vista and have only 1gb of ram and the worst is yet to come : its an onboard gfx card wich shares the 1gb of memory ...
>I m always doing this to connect with daoc portal : launch daocportal , select your server ( Uthgard our beloved server ofc ) , type your loggin and pw , once you are ready to hit the Play button , just be ready to move your mouse fast to the cross to close daocportal , you need to be fast though .... this avoid the game client crashes . The fact to close daoc portal free some ressource on your computer too .

Best regards
