Hey everyone,
I'm a linux user with no access to a Windows machine to install daoc under. Since I installed daoc under linux the game has yet to make a user.dat file, which contains all of the basic stuff about box locations, screen resolution, etc. The game can't create this file when running under the windows compatibility layer I'm using because it expects a c:\documents and settings\user name\application data folder or some such, which of course my system doesn't have due being a totally different operating system. Does anyone have a user.dat file they can email me? It won't contain any super secret information about you or your account - just basic some settings. You can do a file search to find this file and open it up in notepad to verify this - if it has anything like an account name or char names you can delete that just fine. |

I play on linux too. Ubuntu 8.04 and Suse 10.3 at the momment.
First, what emulator are you using? With the latest versions of Wine(already xp simulation instead w98) the Documents and settings folder is already created internally so you should have not problems to run it with it. Anyway, what i did time ago was create the folder manually in the tree folder(remember to check the read/write permissions for that folders) Second, user.dat file is not created at Documents and settings but in the daoc instalation folder. You should see it after the first log-in. The only things gathered at C:\Documents and Settings\name\My_documents\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot are log files and screenshots. At least on my instalation.. Good luck. |

Mine isn't creating the user.dat file at all. I'm running OpenSuSE 11.0 and wine snapshot 1.0 with dolloader.exe. The game itself loads, but the realm selection screen is totally black. This is a pretty common problem with full screen DX/d3d games under wine and I need a user.dat file to manipulate the game into running in windowed mode to get things running. |

Last time i tried DAoC under wine, game can run well, but i was unable to see mouse pointer. Vlad, you dont have problem with mouse cursor? |
|
No, i haven't problems with the cursor.
Do you see the cursor at the character screen? If yes, is a problem with the 32bits pointer of daoc since ~1.8x . There's a patch to fix that problem.. but i don't know if it works. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... ingId=7390 |
