@blue so you should be able to use style even if your enemy is in your back? :s that seems strange.
and as i suppose it's not what happens and that's the same bug as the position style when your oponent face to you. the difference is just that in place of going in the back when you wanna hit, you do it when your enemy wanna hit and so he won't see you...

Firstly i i've stuned you from back only once and it was before GMs decided to create rule 5.4. Feel free to post a pic where i'm using back stun on facing player after this rule got created. Secondly side stun is not back stun. If you play good you can perform side stun and stay ALWAYS in the view so it's not a bug even on uthgard. Just try s+a+ mouse move right. (if you think that's just skill, explain me how you can be on the side of the enemy) << answer And as i said Eshhee broke the rule 5.4 by running through and creating not-in-the-view bug. That's all |

No the position check is another thing that comes later. This is for sure NOT disabled. The only check thats disabled is the OutOfView check but not the positional check of the style. |
|
U will disable it? |

Another question: is it allowed to use backstyles vrs casters?
Because when i want to do this, i have to move through target and face.. Or do i have to walk a half circle around target and hope hes so slow that he dont face me in time?? |
|
dont worry rot. Caster will cast on you even if he is not facing you. Presto removed some Line of sight checks for close range.

why would side style allowed and not backstyle???? that seems more and more stupid for me. oki in place of leviathan, it ll be side style... there is nothing really different.
but if back is bugabuse and side is not... hmmm oki that must relative to 1.80

why not simply implement collision checks ?
or, what about a caster that runs through a tank and says: hey, look at this exploiter ... which admin will check the serverlogs for movement and positions and and and ? fulltime job this will end up in a mess =) |

First collision detection is not a trivial task and takes a lot cpu time usually.
Second the decision that Daoc has not collision detection is quite fundamental. It has positive and negative sides. As a positive side it prevents some kind of gief play. For example you cant block the entrance of a dungeon with a troll for your realmmates. As you cant pk in the homeland ppl could do such actions. Second you cant push someone down a hill. As you take fall damage you could use that to kill realmmates for example. So actually there are good reasons not to have collision detection in an mmo. But there are drawback of this of course. One thing is that you can run through a person. Which imho was never really good implemented by mythic. For example you could have got rid of that out of view bug by saying: if you /face someone and there is no obstical in the way he is always in view, even when he is inside you. Another thing is that you cant protect vulnerable targets with tanks by plain blocking the way. Thats why daoc has such an extensive form of CC and other measures to guard them like BG, Guard, Intercept, Protect etc... So taking out collision detection is a fundamental choice when designing a game. You cant just take it back without severe changes. But you have to live with the consequences Last edited by Alandrian on Mar 07, 2008 13:32, edited 1 time in total.

Just imagine a circle of fulltanks with a caster in the middle. He nukes and you can't reach him. Sure you want collision checks?

Apparently in Warhammer online that kind of thing is going to happen XD |

since i mainly play caster i am up for it

out of view bug is a very often used lametactic mainly for supps and casters and i think it should be punished really hard. i can understand cespxs anger, cause such a lot of people use this bug as a standard tactic in fights, to compensate their lack of skill.
i can remember a well known theurg, that was combining circle strafing with lagjumping making it almost impossible to hit her, combat messages were like: out of view out of view barier absorb (bubble) out of view out of view barrier absorb (bubble) out of view out of view barrier absorb (bubble) ..... even with face main problem still is that such kind of bugusing is hard to prove and i cant remember anyone ever got punished for that, so ppl will continue to use these kind of bugs....the anger for the fair players still remains and is growing..... |

When do you get out of view? In which situation exactly? Melee? Style?
Out of view check is completely removed for melee ranges so I wonder. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later. "It is an inescapable law of nature that the amount of satisfaction one gains from achieving something is related to how hard it is and easy things can only elicit a fleeting superficial sort of pleasure." Blue says, "you used macro tools or macro keyboard" Pala says, "i am disabled. and i have a mechanic left hand that can be programed. its hard to play woith one hand" [Appeal] Bxxxxxxxx: "why is RA first aid cann man i stealth use and not unstealth cann man ra if man use unstealth ?????????" BannedUser: "i was not using automate game action my hand was fall on keyboard during i was sleep .... i was completly fall on keyboard ..." |

lueckeen, even if u move backwards not straight and move around a big ..even then u get out of view messages or ur attack gets forgotten -_- and mostly all people are "abusing" that even if u run in a circle u get those out of view messages and cant attack...
