Keep Siege and XP Update

Listening to whom ? The forum represent less than half of the community. The active posters are mainly complaining, or trolling. The actual % of real constructive / coherent propositions, is fairly low and not always representative of what all players want. |

Good changes but many points aren't solved :
- RP while dead - RP for repairing doors - Bind in BG ... As this patch is PVM maybe in one month you will bring a more oriented rvr patch ? But these changes are a good move for sure ![]() Sofely FrenchFlair - Sorceress 7Lx <Sturmklingen>

And again, who have they listened to?
Every page in the suggestion thread has someone requesting a group XP bonus. What we have instead is the POTENTIAL to earn higher XP, but only if you kill the right level mobs... Which require the right makeup of groups... They havent listened, they have given a 10% bonus to PL between 41 and 44 and raised the amount an Elitist XP group could potentially earn. Its a very silly, poorly thought out mechanism disguised as an XP bonus so they can maintain the grind. Given that the original post stated they had a "Very lengthy discussion" on XP, i would think that is what has overcomplicated it. |

No RA balance adjustments nor relic changes nor anything that promotes any kind of RvR activity besides keep raids

Xp cap bonus require a perfect setup.
So some classes wont be grouped .. never.. A 10% fiat xp bonus for 8 members would be better... ![]() |

That is your problem, mate. You had never cap-xp for killing yellow con mobs on live. Not in 2003, not in 2017. Did purple con drakulv executioner on my bd with a lvl 25healer from our guild...cap xp for both ![]() So you want cap-xp for farming yellow/ora con mobs with a full fg? I hope that isn`t ever going to happen. .

I have to say these changes are better than no changes, but again the Uthgard staff overcomplicates something that needs no complications.
An XP boost is a simple proposal, and has a simple solution (I'd say simple even in programming terms, at least it could be). I don't recall a single person asking for a boost to XP CAP. That's a very different thing to boosting XP based on number of players in a group. In order to take advantage of an XP CAP boost, you need essentially an elite 8 man PvE group. That's not what people wanted and that's not what is good for the server. The XP boost while grouped was supposed to encourage players to invite ANY player available in order to boost the overall XP of the group. If the player was subpar or below preferred level, it didn't matter so much, because by inviting them, the entire group would get a 5% increase in XP, so it would be worth having them in the group, even if they didn't contribute as much as the group would prefer. Having a subpar 8th player is preferable to having only 7 due to the XP bonus. By increasing the XP CAP, that's not the case. A subpar 8th player is not going to help to get the group beyond the normal XP CAP, because they'll be required to kill very high level mobs to see any bonus, and to do that, they'll need an optimized group. I think this change will further aggravate the difficulty of some players to get groups. It does nothing to help a casual not so desirable class to get a group. That would be my big criticism of this patch. On to the good, which there certainly is good in this patch. The DF timer change is awesome, a great idea to further potential larger scale RvR in a place that doesn't often get it. A+ to that change. I love the Endo addition to the UI, A+ to that as well. RP for keep take and defense is SUPERB. A+++++ to that change. Love it. Got some RPs last night on my Skald for defending a keep we took in Alb land, much to our surprise. LOVE LOVE LOVE the XP events as well! Gives me a chance to get a big boost to a character I didn't expect to do much with, which is always exciting to get a new alt up into the BG levels and beyond fast. A+++ to that. Although, I'd agree that giving a much longer warning when an incoming XP event is happening would be very much preferred though. It would hype up the server for that stretch of time and get some players back if it was hyped up. It would also give players the proper amount of time to prepare for the XP event, get some alts ready to level (or mains) and give realm transfers time to get to the realm they want to level in. This overall would help realm balance I think, since Mid seems to need people during NA primetime. Changing the realm transfer time based on relics or if they are lacking players seems like a good idea too. Severian, RR5 Skald

Right, but what the players want isn't always what's best for the game. Straight raising the xp? Eh, it'll make people happy for a week and then they'll want another raise. Give a ton of bonuses to grouping? You have more people working together for faster XP, as DAoC was originally designed for. Though I think it might have been better as a flat group xp bonus. That's because binding in the BG is an awful suggestion that results in a boring stalemate of constantly respawning enemies not worth any RPs. |
|
Remember sickness. On Uth1 we had the same setting (bind in BG) and I can't remember killing someone without getting RPs |

Once again it's the same trolls as always, complaining about everything, whatever you do.. If you think the exp rate is too slow then this game is probably not for you. If you want horses, RPs for task stuff and other stupid things then Uthgard is not for you. Simple.. So tired of all this poison and negativity.
I just dinged 50 on my 4th char in a new realm. Took less than 3 weeks to reach 50 and get templated, starting with 0 gold. And it's a less desired class.. And I play casual. How the h*** can people think the exp is too slow, I just don't get it. Good changes and great work, thank you:) |
|
I wonder what kind of weird definition of "play casual" you might know, considering what you just wrote.. You're right that there is a lot of "poison and negativity" but there is certainly also people who want things get improved for the sake of all, and not necessarely beacuse they want to turn the game into another. ![]() There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

This patch was a good patch. I appreciate the devs and their hard work on making this server better. But I know and many of you know that this patch wont bring back hundreds or thousands of the non casual daoc players back (you know the ones who are actually good at rvr and dont complain about how long leveling takes). The server needs an extreme change if you want uthgard not to die. I dont want it to die none of us here do. So you need to figure out what the problem is and many of us already know what it is.
People are just going to get to 50 faster and quit just like the other level 50s that quit. The problem isn't that it takes too long to level. The problem is that level 50s are leaving the server daily and the server population dropped to an unhealthy number. You dont need to increase exp for leveling. If the server had 1000 people on everyday no matter if it was NA or EU time then there would be people to group up with in the first place to level faster. While I am happy that you made grouping up more viable in pve that isn't the reason why level 50s were leaving uthgard. You need to make an extreme change that doesn't change the server rules. If you want to know what I suggested look at my post in the suggestion forum. Also a couple days before a patch comes out you should notify us what the patch does especially if there is an event that only lasts a certain amount of time. |

He's also not a casual. Having 4 level 50s and calling yourself a casual is a joke. It must be. Reaching level 50 in less than three weeks is about 66 hours /played a week. Casual? Nah man. Unless you got PLed and it took considerably less time than average, in which case casual/hardcore doesn't apply to you in the simple sense. Severian, RR5 Skald
