After reviewing my rvr-evening today, i tried to analyze for myself, what problems we ran into in our 8vs8 fights. The one thing that is on top is: How do i deal with nearsight?

It does feel like there is no natural counter to nearsight beside a 30min RA. Almost every sucessfull Hib/Alb group runs at least one caster with yellow/red nearsight. Im playing myself a darkcarver RM and my grey NS can not compete with it. DOnt get me wrong, this is not a crythread about how strong hib/alb castergroups are, because even if there would be a good way for midgard, to have a yellow/red nearsight(they do obviously not) i would rather have a way to counter it.

Iirc with patch 1,8x there was NSheal on healer with 40mend. Would it destroy the balance completly to have a viable counter to it?

Im really interessted in your opinions on this, because i want myself to improve but right now im handling it with a /shrug.

save purge for it, its what i do. sadly i've had some fights last long enough where it was applied twice to me. theres nothing you can do other than roll hib for the group purge or baod.

blue ns is fine. I played 47/26 dark rm for years and years. blue is like 45% vs yellow 55 and red 65. the difference really isn't THAT significant, it still serves its purpose as a long range interrupt that gives you a range advantage vs enemy casters.

anyways I know you said you're darkcarver, so I guess I'm just saying mid having blue isn't that much of a disadvantage at all if you consider the ns line also gives pbt. if you're cold debuffing spec your groups should always include a dark rm with blue ns, and maybe you'll have less issues with ns. but yeah save purge for it at all times.

The only counter is a 30min purge. The almighty 2002 Mythic balance team decided it to be so, and so it is on Uthgard. 1.65 or bust people!

Horrible advice. Imo Trispec is only viable on ONE SINGLE CASTER CLASS in the game, and its not RM.

basicly onyl purge, ye.

Most alb grps dont have yw or red btw. And yes if u want to compete in that aspect i would srsly consider including at least blue NS urself in the Setup.

NS heal wont destroy the balanche but change it by indirectly nerfing hib grps, and it wont happen anyway since not 1.65 ect...

nearsight is very annoying. On the start of the fight i usually loop out of it so i wont catch it on inc, but u still catch it occasionally. If your purge is down then u transform into a mighty meele caster, which may be really manly but isnt very effective :c

healclasses should get either nearsightheal of buffshears, or both!

If you're playing single caster in a tank grp it should not be too hard to avoid it. Just make sure to not get it on inc. 5-10s into the fight is usually the time window where most Nearsights apply because after that cabs/elds are busy with other things and might get an occasional ns in at times but alot less frequent than during the first seconds of the fight.

This post is not about NS. This post is about having only a DC Runie in a group.

DAoC is all about having a setup according to what may be the group strengths and the enemies weaknesses at the time you want to run. You need to adapt and assemble classes and specs accordingly.

Runing a mid group with only a DC runie in a roaming group is a complete non sense. It can be interesting for a keep/RK defense, but outside in plains it won't work.

If we would delete posts talking about pretended issues only due to people stupidity and incapability to understand properly what they should do to get better at the game, the forum would be a ghost town.

I will use an example. It would be the same thing as creating a post about giving a mezz cure to casters because you want to run a group without a pac/bard/sorc. That would be such a stupid thing.

DC runies have always been very powerful in keep/RK defense, but not in plain. Supp runies are very powerful in plains but sucky in realm defense. That's how things are on DAoC, strengths and weaknesses. You can't have all and it is what makes this game so interesting.

Don't try to kill it with you New-Gen, WoW-Like games, mentality!

is actually a good point brought up by a lot of people. in order for hib to run a debuff + nearsight they have to run 2 classes anyway, same as mid.

alb is only one where they don't have to do so, but who honestly isn't going to run a sorc in grp :hammer:

I think that 40 heal spec for cure nearsight is a good compromise. Every heal class has to sacrifice something to spec 40 mend/rej/reg creating build diversity where at the moment is nearly none. Yes it weakens nearsight a bit but it also rewards good positioning and team play (keep the healers rupted and no cure neasight can be casted^^).

At which point did i state that i was the only caster in my group? Some people are very strange in their behavior. You were also really quick, by judging me and bringing up words like stupidity. Let me guess, you run in troubles sometimes, when it comes down to social interactions? :gaga:

I said i would appriciate opinions on nearsight and stated exactly, that this is not a crythread. I also said, that even if i had a red nearsight, i would rather have a counter to it. Maybe before you insult me on a passive-agressive base, you should try to understand the words you read.
