The truth is, fight often rely or one or two class doing their job at inc.

You can have the best compo and get mezed at inc you will likely be destroyed.

you can play with a weird compo and mez at inc and destroy people with a good assist champion VW Animist.

This game has always suffered from the lack of imagination of its pvp community.
Its makers wanted us to improvise and use infinite combinations by providing a large number of different classes, and they were very inventive and clever in doing so.
How about 7 thanes and 1 augmentation healer?
4 smite clerics and 4 friars?

What I wonder is why anyone would choose a class solely based on its supposed usefulness in 8vs8

I know dude, the question is about if people would take hybrids even with det. People are too stuck in the cookie cutter attitude I think.

I think people would run with a VW or Reaver if they had Det. They just do too much damage. If you try and snare or root a VW to let their target get distance they can just start lifetapping. Reavers also have a ton of DPS and are an interupt machine. Dont really see a reason to take a Champ over a Hero or BM though. Same for Thanes. Maybe they would work in some wierd caster group but not worth taking over a Savage, Berserker, or even a good Warrior.

If Thanes had Det on this patch level, all Warriors would lose their job. That is why they don't have Det in the first place. 50 SC/42 Shield/39 Hammer brings everything that Warrior has plus instant interrupts and, most importantly, Static Tempest. He may be a bit less effective while guarding, but that doesn't help anyway against 2+ targets on this server.

it's not so much the class as it is the player. If you're a terrible player, it don't matter what class you wanna run, you're not grouping with us ,
