Since Hibs conquered in they early a.m. working hours the mage relics last week, it seems they found the courage to step into the frontiers for the first time after 3 months.

The 8v8 principle is enforced by the playerbase itself, to have an arena like fight and to determine which group plays better/has the higher skill. However, unfortunately, not all agree with that, it's RvRvR, hence there will be always adds, zerg, jamming.

Midgard is (imo) 90% 8v8 oriented, even randoms do it, pugs.
Hib rather 20%, because there are only 2 groups that try to enforce that, and since they have the relics (as said above) it's mostly zerg and jamming.
Alb is imo about 60-70% 8v8 oriented, difficult to determine yet since not many Albs come to RvR at all.


Now, the problem is Midgard is still trying to 8v8 and get zerged, added, jammed by the Hibzerg. The Hibzerg does not care, and someone on Hib said last Friday "we'll continue with this until we're RR5".

It would be wise for Midgard to either temporarily or generally loosen up a bit on that strict self enforced 8v8 stick which we have up in our arse. If you get jammed, added and zerged, counter likewise back instead of being frustrated, spending rps or start flame /tells to your fellow Midgroup with "why did you add?"

We need realm pride and to work together, stop this elitism 8v8 only, at the moment it is working against us!

In the end, it is what it is; RvRvR and not an arena-like 8v8 game.

This has my vote. What happened to realm pride and realm defense? The Hibs dominated the Midgard frontiers all weekend, it was quite sad to see. The Hibs owned all Mid forts on two different occasions, and barely any Mid RvRers seemed to care. Coming from classic DAoC in a prominent RvR guild, this is puzzling to me.

I remember back in the day if forts were under attack, people organized to STOP the attack in real time. That doesn't seem to happen on this server, at least not on the Mid side of things. The main reasons for this I think is the strict adherence to the 8v8 style of play and these isolated 8v8 Mid groups don't want to ever join together to accomplish any greater goals. I suppose because it might slow their RP gain temporarily by a few hundred. I don't know, but it isn't healthy for RvR if you ask me to only have 8v8 groups running around. Not to mention it lacks variety and variability in play.

very few mids are of an 8v8 mentality and I saw those 2 guilds join the saturday zerg so I don't know what you are talking about. if anything its their euro zerg defeatist mentality. if they cant get 200 to another realms 100 they aren't interested.

There's plenty of evidence for what I stated. Hibs take over all Mid forts on two different occasions, barely any resistance. Plenty of 8v8 groups running around by themselves though while it was happening.

There is no nice word for this kind of thinking, you people are delusional idiots. It's a 16 year old game, nobody cares about realm pride and rightfully so. Sure, most people prefer one realm and yes it's nice to organize events like Blue Sunday, but I would never give people ****** about their style of play. I can fully understand that some people prefer 8v8 or solo or whatever. Realm pride and all this was super sexy decade and a half ago when most people had more time, mmorpgs(at least good ones) were a relatively new thing and the game itself was new to everyone. You can't expect people to behave the same and have the same attitude about it so many years later.

And what "greater goals" are you talking about? Every single time I've joined a relic raid on uthgard1 with the notable exception of one that I did with Dottormetallo at a similar time when hibs did their(around noon CET), I just witnessed chaos. Half of the people not in bg, a huge amount of people ignoring what the leader is saying or being very late so we end up needing 3x the amount of people to do something what we could have done with 3x less people and good timing. Anyway, the one raid that was ok was ok because we only had like 4 fgs and server was pretty much empty.

Btw seriously, you expect people to have some sort of realm pride and organize themselves at a time when most people from the US are asleep or getting up for work/school and most people in EU are either at work or having lunch? Most people just want to enjoy the game without pressure and have fun when they log on, that's it. Again, I get what you're saying but it doesn't go down in the real world. Not 16 years later and hundreds of different games later. Most people will quit uthgard because GMs have ZERO understanding how game actually works when played, therefore they have no idea which custom changes really need to be implemented in order to draw more casual population out to the frontiers, so they blindly stick to their "if we start doing custom changes, where will it end?" crap. If they just played the game for 1 month straight, they'd understand the dumb flaws we have here, but it's their server so who cares. Anyway, relax dude....just play the game and let others play.

A lot of people share this sentiment, and my tone was not nearly the same as your tone (you come off as a complete asshole, quite frankly). is 8 manning wrong? Course not. Is it the only game in town? I wish it wasn't.

Meanwhile in Albion we just grabbed popcorn and wondered wtf was going on. Defiance threw itself at Bledmeer three times and failed. Go, go lowbie albs :p

I still remember the 8v8 evenings where we were literally smashing by a midzerg... so... I think Midgard is ( IMO ) 30-40% 8v8 oriented.

I've been added nearly every fight since 50 by mid groups. That's why we add nearly every mid group with a few exceptions depending on who they are or who they're fighting.

Last night, we started the evening with respecting fights. We got jammed by mid group after mid group.
