Whats the point of having classes no one wants?

I seriously dont understand the logic behind having classes that people have shunned into Lepers. I get it, certain buffs classes got along the way arent Patch 1.65. So tell me how its better for the server, when everyone names and shames classes like Friars, Paladins, Champs, and Thanes on the forums to the point that they will never ever get a group spot in 8v8. Why not just narrow every realm down to the following and remove every other class from the game
Mid Savage Berserker Shaman Healer Skald Runemaster Hib Hero Blademaster Druid Bard Eldritch Alb Arms Merc Cleric Cabbie Sorc Min Theurg I mean why even bother playing any other class? If you say "Cause I find <Insert Class> fun" then please elaborate on how its fun to not be wanted? |

Because the game isn't only about 8v8 rvr
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The enemy lined the shore in a dense armed mass.
Among them were black-robed women with disheveled hair like Furies, brandishing torches. Close by stood Druids, raising their hands to heaven and screaming dreadful curses. |

Hib : Chanter and Menta can also be a pain
Mid : Bonedancer is opti too |

You clearly have a thorough understanding about game mechanics and group set ups.

I'm confused, is this a wine post or a request to have classes removed?

It's clear to me that you don't understand group mechanics. Congratulations! Just about done..

I dunno.
I have seen some hate for certain classes, especially in rvr. However I have run with some "non-optimal" classes and have been successful even in rvr. It really depends on the folks your playing with and how you decide to run your group. <Blood Feud>

Whats the point of this topic?
Why should you remove smth like a BD. It's imo the best interrupting class in Midgard and for me a must-have in every Midgard-Caster-Grp. Why remove Animist which is probably the most OP-Class against Tank-Grps? Why remove Necro, which is the most played class in Albion? Why remove all stealthers, which are meant to played solo? Why remove Ench, which almost every Hib-Grp uses atm? The only classes (except of stealthers) I really cannot imagine in any setup is Thane in Midgard, VW in Hib and Necro in Alb. Paladins, Champions and Friars are also questionable. But Necros are perfect PVE Farmers and Thanes have their moments, too. For example in Zergs. I mean you even removed Warriors and Wardens... Sorry, but that's a BS post... |

I'm pretty sure it was sarcasm when he said to remove them. He's obviously just bringing up that so many classes are sub-optimal at this patch.
-I don't necessarily agree with his list specifically but it would be nice to see every class represented in RvR as opposed to the same 7-8 per realm. Will you see scouts or thanes in RvR? Maybe once a week, you will also see half of those people quit or reroll a week later. You can argue the utility of each class up and down and debate his list (because it doesn't include x,y, or z) but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of classes are just not played in RvR. |

So who would consider using a hybrid with det 3 in an opted 8-man?

Leaving aside whether these classes are completely useless or not (which I disagree with) I agree that many of them are sub-optimal and won't really have a place in RvR, especially if you believe that this server will eventually devolve into an 8v8 playground. However, you're asking about the logic behind it and whether it's good for the server or not and that's your mistake. It's not about any of that. The only question you should ask yourself is how things were in 1.65. There are no steps of reasoning beyond that for design decisions. |

You say that, but here I am having to run to the relic keep for crafting mats. Motark - Runemaster

This is a little overstated.
Ppl who shun these classes are the vocal minority. I take stealthers and hybrids all the time in my grps, they have plenty to offer. If I have some chain in my grp to peel, shadowblades can crank out the dps and are very very welcome in my grps. Thanes can tank just fine and can pull fast. The mentality on the forums does not match how ppl behave in the game. We all want exp, and groups can be tough to find. beggars are not choosey. The only classes I wish weren't in the game are Farm classes. Amnist, necro and BDs. Those are the only classes I feel add nothing to uthgard except to be a nuisance. --- |

Have you ever done any rvr? ![]() My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.
You mustn't assume that your personal situation is a reflection of every other person that has logged in to Uthgard. |

Haha, you're right of course, there are some exceptions that mainly seem to further inconvenience the player on top of the already existing frustrations of 1.65. Although I have to admit I'm not sure about this addition, I haven't hit 50 yet. Does it stimulate RvR at least?
Do you seriously believe the people who shun these classes are a vocal minority? I mean, maybe this is somewhat true for pve (although 'vocal minority' is still nowhere near accurate I'd say) but for rvr? If you're right then Uthgard is totally different from what daoc has been for the last 10 years. |
