As Co-Guild leader i have the following problem.
I have 2 members with new accounts. I was old that their 1st account has been hacked.
Ok , still wondering about such stuff. I`m playing online games for 19 years now and never got hacked or somthing similar.

Is there a way to validate that this 2 accounts were hacked and not banned...?


The other point is.

I registered here at Uthgard with an older email, which i rarely used. I`ve got 1 email from my provider each week and thats all.
But since i used this email for account registration on Uthgard i noticed that i get 5-10 Spam mails each day.
All mails following the same pattern *Urgent, Win here, win that, i miss you *..etcetc...
All mails contain 1-2 links, redirecting to a ****.ru server.

Do you have some probs here @Staff?

I can pretty safely say that we have never gotten an appeal yet about an account being hacked.

I have also not heard anything about the junk mail problem that you're describing either.

Well, the spam mails are not really a problem. I´m not opening suspect emails or clicking links.
It`s a bit strange that it starts in January.

And about the 'hacked' accounts, we?ll see....trying to get more infos

I can confirm that from my point of view. Using the same address for Uthgard (and Uthgard only) since 2006 and never received any spam/similar via that account.


There had been, though, some stuff available when uthgard.net was down and parts available in the internet, like an user-database (including names and email-adresses, that usually are not accessible due to access rights). Maybe someone got your mailadresss from there. But don't ask me about the timeframe, was a few months or maybe even a year before the beta was announced/started.

Well, about the 2 'hacked' accounts...i think they deleted their chars in Mid and switched to alb or hib. They noticed the grass is not greener over there and switched back. And since the chars in Mid were gone they came up with the 'hacked account'...bla.


And the junk/spam stuff may be a provider wide problem.

Nothing on the internet is 'safe'

My playstation account was hacked about a month ago, obviously nothing bad happened to me, just had to contact customer support and got my login back, removed all changes etc, new password.

That being said, its a matter of is the information taken worth person x's time to try to get. Of course some people can make it easy for said person to get the information by clicking harmful links, having old passwords that haven't been changed in years or bad personal security leading to Keyloggers, Trojans, possibly reused passwords that have already been compromised. That is more about personal security rather than the server.

or as you stated the players could just be looking for an easy route to get their deleted chars back.
