lmao
Had no idea this was an event going, took 100 or so albs over a hill in breifine to see over 200 blue cloaks come over the horizon and destroy us |
|
Thanks for attending Midgard!
It was a really nice event and congratulation to Mids! You did a very good job at Castle Myrdin. I really looking forward for next Events and more enemies! Edit: Please fix the following issue! https://www2.uthgard.net/tracker/issue/ ... race_timer It is really annoying doing a Raid or defence without the grace timer. |

And hopefully more castdelay^^

The event was a huge success and a lot of fun. Thanks to all who participated, in every realm.
I had to turn off the tell chat at one point, so sorry if I did not answer. ![]() I will put together a video, but will take some days. ![]() |

For anyone who can't wait until Holsten's high-quality production comes out, here are some stream highlights from last night:
Mid vs Alb zerg in Breifine: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/128382357 Cracking 3 Relic doors in under 7 minutes with the Alb zerg in our back: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/128384127 The final push after the Power relic had been reset: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/128384636 I have never had that amount of action in DAoC on live servers EVER. That event and the other realm's reactions are a perfect showcase of why every single one of us loves this game so much. What we don't love is cast lag and broken horse routes. Without those issues we most likely wouldn't have been able to get the two Power relics. But please don't forget that this event probably helped the devs to identify certain bottlenecks. We as a community can only hope that fixes are in the works! Thanks Drachengarde for organizing this event! |

By the way... any exact numbers from guardkills or such how many mids? I guess more than 250, maybe even more than 300?
|
|
Not how many Mids, but we saw 137 enemy attacking Crim at one point. Gil DaTroll - Merlin Zerker | MacDeath - Uth1 Armsman | Gil - Uth2 Zerker | Macdeath - Uth2 Armsman

Someone in Mid BG told about guardkill by 173 hibs near crim (maybe a typo and it was 137?), sad that they decided to flee to bolg instead of an openfield fight. Guess the incoming wall of trolls scared them.
![]() I would also like to know how many RP the hib bomber grps in ailinne made, wiping the midzerg over and over ![]() That was my fault, 3 years without zerglead made me forget the basics. No gtaoe target for rupt, no countdown for the push, forgot that half the zerg is not in the bg because it was full... so some things to improve for the next blue sunday event. ![]() |

Mistakes were made but that's OK. In the end the event was very successful. Next event is going to be even better, i'm sure. Fleshcutter the Berserker.

good luck to the mids on the next one when you get literally 0 rps for taking empty keeps! |
|
Was the same yesterday. Got 8k in 5 hours. But doesn't matter, had relics. |

I claimed Crim for my guild (and the realm). The maximum number I saw for attackers was 137 and they were easily driven away. Maybe you ARE a bit rusty at leading large zergs? ![]() But, the zerg was rusty too. ![]() You were great and we'll all do better on Blue Sunday - Episode 6. ![]() Last edited by Gil on Mar 13, 2017 22:28, edited 1 time in total.

Hibs went for mid str relic after the siege at Ailinne, which ended around the same time albs picked up the power relic. I'd be surprised if more than 100 hibs made it to the str relic keep in Uppland. Mid zerg rolled in just as 1st rams were being placed, seemed like 200 mids was a conservative estimate... At this point any sort of direct engagement by hibs would be suicidal, just based no numbers alone.
Good move by mids to just camp the relic keep, even with albs holding all their keeps (may have been only 6). Although i'm not sure that it was "working as intended(tm)". Evinak - Eldritch

So - here is the midgardian Point-of-View(at least my PoV, so corect me if I'm wrong), even if it is quite a wall-of-text:
Midgard opened as announced the BG around 6pm (GMT+1). The constant flow of players joining the BG made it early on very clear, that this event will be HUGE. We expected many players, but I think we didn't expect THAT many players. To put it in a nutshell: At the start of the event(around 7pm GMT+1) the BG was full(200 players), and as it looked like, there were players constantly spamming "/bg join Holsten/Glimli", because as soon somebody left the BG, immediately somebody joined in. At this point we were in Svasud Faste and filling groups, etc. It was nice seeing nearly everyone participating in this event, wearing blue cloaks and blue shields. You could see players selling blue dye/enamel and player gifting it to others. We needed 2 or 3 teleports from the Gothis, until everybody was in Emain Macha. Some minutes of buffing and gathering passed and we were ready to go. As soon as everybody moved it was quite an impressive display. Now the action started: We met a few groups of Hib at MMG, but as Asinger already stated, they must have underestimated our numbers, because they were easily wiped, only a few were able to retreat. We expected more resistance, but for our zerg it was a nice starting motivation. We chased the remaining Hibs to Dun Crauchon, and there again we expected more resistance inside. It must have been an interesting situation for the hibs in DC. We saw a few people on the walls, who were looking to this gigantic Midzerg. At first we hesitated a bit, if we should siege DC, because we wanted just some zerging action. But the some folks were bloodthirsty and we couldn't stop them and so we sieged. It does not have to be said, that we didn't need any rams with so many people. The siege was over in 15 minutes or so, even with the resistance inside. After this we roamed a bit through Emain, just looking for some action. Found a few groups here and there, but nothing we could REALLY call a fightback. We quickly decided after some roaming to take Dun Crimthainn next, which fell as fast as Dun Crauchon, with much less resistance. At this point information about a Hibzerg reached us. So we moved west with Dun Bolg as our next target. On the way we engaged the Hibzerg the first time, but they seem to have realised very quickly, that we outnumbered them, and they retreated to Dun Bolg. A few Hibs died on their retreat, but the majority made it to Bolg. Our zerg stopped at the foot of Dun Bolg and we decided to not engage. Yes: We had the numbers, but the Hibs had many bombers and so we avoided a siege battle, where many Mids would have died. We evaded Bolg on the southern route and headed directly to the West to Dun Ailinne. Of course we hoped, that Hibs would engage us in open field, but that was obviously not the case. Dun Ailinne fell very quickly as well with nearly no resistance inside. At this moment the prospect of getting Hibs strength relic became very real(maybe even before ![]() With aproximately 1 hour in the event and with the Albzerg wiped we decided to return to Emain Macha to regroup with those who had LD and were ported back to MTK. (another reminder to vote on Issue #1486). During this, Hibs retook Dun Ailinne. Another half of an hour roaming through Hibland passed and we decided to engage Dun Ailinne again, despite the fact that many defenders were inside. Our zerg was divided at this point, with many groups who waited on their LDs, so that not the full number of mids were able to get to Dun Ailinne, when the doors were open. We still had about 4 or 5 groups on the way to Ailinne, when the Chieftain was killed by us, and then the Jarl was killed again by the Hibs, so that the doors closed again and the midzerg was cutoff from reinforcements. The midzerg was quite unsynchronised at this point, so that the hibs were able to defend the keep. During the siege of an Albzerg passing the AMG in Odin's Gate catched our attention. They headed directly to Grallarhorn, our Magic-Relickeep. With half the Midzerg wiped and reinforcements cutoff, we changed our mind taking Dun Ailinne and wiped ourselves on the Hibs to reform in Svasud. That worked quite well. Here I was amazed again, that so many Mids were despite the wipe still with us and even more joined. With the midzerg reformed we headed towards Grallar, but on the way there, Albs took our horn. So - instead of heading to the relic we went directly to the AMG with some spies left at Dodens Gruva to report if Albs pass through. Our zerg must have closely missed the Hibzerg(which were at some point 180). Albs must have their spies as well, and of course Albs headed through Dodens, instead forcing a direct confrontation with us at the AMG. At this point, our Zerg had to make a decision. Whether chasing the albs and retain our magic-relic or defending our strength-relic against the hibs. Splitting the zerg was no option, due to 100+ Albs and nearly 200 Hibs at our strength-relic. With most our groups being Melee, we decided to defend Mjollner. Direclty we wiped ourselves at the ATK, reformed at Svasud and headed as fast as possible to Mjollner Faste. To see, how fast all Mids were with reforming, etc, was quite nice. As we reached Mjollner we were able to surprise the Hibs and wiped them, even with the massive lag. It took 10 seconds for my character to hit something. With Hibzerg defeated and Albs in Summoner's Hall, it became a valid option to even intercept regain our magic-relic, but we needed to act quickly, what we did. That meant: Back to Svasud Faste, port to Albion, regroup and as fast as possible to Snowdonia and Castle Myrddin! Glad that Albs buyed us some time by passing through Marfach, and no resistance was on the way. When we engaged Myrddin, I experienced something, which I never did in my entire DAoC time. We watched ALL relicgates go down in 7 minutes, WITHOUT rams. After door 3 we decided to hurt Albion economy a bit harder by opening even the fourth gate. And we(at least I) felt a huge tension. With the Albs in our back and unknown location of the Hibzerg, it was a timerace. So we camped Myrddin and put the Albs under pressure and under the compulsion to move. Time was on our side, but still 1 hour left. We knew: When we are patient, don't let trigger us, we have the prospect of not only regaining our magic-relic, but also took 2 relics from the Albs as well. Another intesting situation evolved, as the Hibzerg turned up and decided to fight down the Albs. Even with constant shouts to 'STAY INSIDE' the midzerg developed his own dynamics and rushed out. But we got between the Albzerg and Hibzerg, so we retreated back inside Myrddin and only lost a few people. Again, patience was needed. We don't know what happened exactly out there, but after some time just the Albszerg camped Myrddin. We knew that they had to move, and retained our patience. Several tries to storm Myrddin, even with the guards popped were failed by the Albs. And over 1 hour, they were not able to do so(of course, also due to several problems, like lag, horses, etc). When our relic went back to Grallar, we shouted in joy, took the two other relics from Myrddin and rushed out to defeat the remaining Albs. We won! The remaining story you could figure out yourself: We went home, brought the relics back and drank mead and told each other stories of our greatness in Jordheim tavern. TLDR: It was a great evening, despite the problems and we had a ton of fun! I hope the other realms had theirs, too! ![]() |
