My gf and I just found out about Uthgard, and I've already been playing for a bit over a week now. She, on the other hand, has been unable to get past the patching process (the Uthgard patcher, to be precise) and after trying everything we can think of, we're out of ideas.

Basically, every time she runs the patcher, it downloads a few megs (give or take) and then shows this error:

"Fetching pre-packaged content failed. An exception occurred during a WebClient request."

Afterwards, it continues to download a little longer and then gives this error:

"Something went wrong during patching. Sorry -- We encountered this error: Failed to download file "frontiers/zones/zone164/tex164.mpk": One or more errors occurred. An exception occurred during a webclient request."

It's been the same two errors each time. I've been searching around for every other instance of similar errors and we've tried every suggestion that's been given (changing the folder's directory, enabling "run as administrator," correct redistributables, etc).

What else can we try?

That seems very specific. I would suggest:

First: Patch the client back to the live servers. Once complete, run the Uthgard patcher again.

Second: If that doesn't work, completely uninstall DAoC and then reinstall, following all the steps again in Getting Started.

Hi, thanks for the response!

We tried the first one already, but we refrained from doing the second because she lives in South Africa with some potato ADSL internet (took a few days to download it the first time.) I did, however, send her a RAR of my fully-patched Uthgard DAoC directory (which came out to be about half a gig smaller), so we were hoping that might work. If not, we'll just start from square one with uninstalling/reinstalling it.

For the record, live works fine; we've been playing it a little together so far. We made sure to make separate install folders for them though so there shouldn't be any conflicts.

Please re-install the launcher from the account section.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

We've tried that twice now but no luck, unfortunately. Can't imagine what could be causing this.

try moving the Uthgard install into your drive root folder; there can sometimes be an issue if the path name contains too many characters.

Also make sure you grant "authenticated users" modify security over that folder.

Yep, we moved it to the root after it messed up the first few times because I figured it might be some permission issue. She also just checked and it appears the folder already has modify checked under authenticated users. Thanks for the suggestion, all the same.

Just a little update:

She finished downloading the patched RAR that I made for her earlier, re-installed the uthgard launcher, and the game started up immediately! I'm not sure what's going to happen when there's a new patch, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
