Leveling in Albion is so boring thanks to solo players.

There's solo cabalists and necros taking every camp for themselves. Cabalists constantly aoe pulling camps that multiple XP groups are already farming. Necros literally everywhere.

You think it will fix once they hit max level, but no, that's when they start powerleveling their guidies, their friends, their friends' friends, their grandmas and nephew and whatnot. I'm already seeing cabalists with a bunch of low levels in their group powerleveling them. No real groups to be found. No one wants to group normally, they just want to be powerleveled.

Many groups I've been in have gone poorly, people leave because they are going to get powerleveled by their guildy who just got online when we are just getting started with pulls, people leave if we wipe because they are going to get powerleveled anyway.

I've always preferred Midgard, but decided to be Alb this time for a change of pace. My god what a bad decision that was. Mainly because I rolled group friendly classes aka Earth Theurgist and Cold Wizard. Sigh.

I will admit leveling in Alb was much more enjoyable on Uth1 without the necro farming fest we have now.

I feel guilty saying this, but I've stopped grouping less because of the Necro and Cab infestation than due to almost every group I join being full of absolute noobs and just downright bad players. The plethora of autotraining scrubs is bad enough, but I got so tired of starting groups/joining groups only to have half the members constantly AFK or absolutely clueless that I no longer bother to join up with anyone except RL friends.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Well, it's just no fun to group up if you're even faster solo with a normally not solo-friendly class. Don't know where most players ever played DAoC before, but it was clearly post Catacombs, where everyone was just PL'd.

For example, there are always people in Salisbury Plains, the WORST place to level. No real spots, add-fests by mobs 6-8 lvls above the group, and a bad experience at all. But people stay there, instead of going into Campacorentin or Avalon Marshes, or even Black Mountains. Everything is better than Salisbury.

Won't even mention lvl 20+ groups.

In the end, solo is more viable than grouping up most of the times, additional because of lots of players leave the group after they leveled up once. Why? Just stay, enjoy the show, there's nothing THAT important to go back to Cam to skill up.

So, yeah, I can understands all of them.

Really substantive points you've made in your sterling post.

Autotraining isn't "bad," per se. It gives some classes/specs a considerable bump at 50. The problem is it also makes certain classes/specs gimpy as hell while leveling, which is relevant to the point of this thread.

That's enough to make leveling on Alb kind of awkward.

I remember Salisbury very well as a Friar, being constantly whispered to rez people here and there. That zone is hell. Ironically, this is the zone I remember the most on Alb and I suspect it's the same for many players, I guess nostalgia plays a big part, personally if I were on Alb I would definitely level there.

The best thing when i read that frequent whine threads is, that there must be a adult person, who write that emotional bs.

Sure, it depends on class, how easy you get a grp. But for player who wanna play a class, which is literally not needed, its maybe the best idea, to start a solo-class twink too.

I played Alb back in the day (Beta til 2002) and I focused on Alb on Uth1. Alb was always noob heavy. The name of the game has Camelot in it. And what noob doesn't like the idea of being a knight? More experienced players will pick a realm based on other factors.

Unfortunately for Alb this time around, a significant percent of their non-noobs went Necro or Cab so they could farm. That makes it hard for people with more 'normal' playstyles to find good leveling camps. It also makes it hard for Albion as a Realm to be effective in RvR.

Hang in there folks. When you do get up and rolling Albion will be quite effective. You've got some great classes.

My expectation was that there'd be hardly any players on Uthgard 2.0 who weren't experienced players, which was pretty much the case on Uthgard 1.0 (though I wasn't around for its beginning). This has turned out not to be the case at all. I'm curious where so many of the truly new folks have come from. My guess would be that Asheron's Call finally closing up shop had something to do with it, but who knows.

I have to disagree,

I am almost level 47. Have full time work, and kids. So time to play is not a lot, I have gone and sacrificed hours of sleep though to play more.

I have to say the leveling has been a blast. I do get groups, some nights I do not. But I just go and do something else, or level something else.

Even with my alts I have always found someone to play with.

Yes there are HEAPS of necros and Cabbs leveling at the moment.

YES people are being power leveled.

But this has ALWAYS been the case after SI.

Be proactive. Talk to people. Get groups going. Use that friends list to friend people who are good players. If you are good then people will add you. Be sociable, don't be a jerk. I don't think its that bad.

I have only had only a couple of bad groups since my journey to 50. I am having lots of fun.

That is just my opinion and experience thus far.

also one problem is si zones are missing where people could xp, so if you want a good xp spot with campbonus you either have to play at off peak hours and be unemployed and dont have kids and a wife etc

or you have to try your luck in the frontiers and find a decent xp spot where not many gankers pass by but with the bindstones being so far away the frontiers isnt really a good option if you leave through the secondary border keeps to avoid gankers

Not really seeing this, have had no problems finding groups as an arms, have had no problem creating groups and finding camps, and have found most groups very willing to listen to instructions on things like designated peelers, breaking mez and assisting. Maybe you are putting little effort into grouping and that is why you are not being rewarded with successful groups?
