Rerolled Hib from Albion and torn between these two characters.
Can't decide which I want to play. I will be focused mainly on 8v8. Looking for any insight to help me make my decision. Thanks much. PS WIll be joining a reroll guild on Friday. Wondering if anyone could recommend a really good solo farming toon I can fool around with this week to make some gold to finance my melee at the start. |

Both have their place. Most would argue BM, but they're mostly interchangeable.
Heroes have higher melee absorb BMs are cheaper to template Heroes easier to find PVE grps (by a slight margin) |

Hey Slowpoke,
The difference isn't that big, although people are wrong on some parts. Heroes are better offensively when not fighting PBT. LW has high growth rates and the ability to swap between Crush/Slash for substantially more damage. They have Stag and can play Blockbot (50 Shields, Large Shield and MoBlocking) which can be quite helpful against mid tanker. They only have a side- and frontpeel with LW and have to swap to Spear to use a Backsnare, which is clunky and doesn't allow chainpeeling and damage at the same time. BMs are better peelers due to the faster attackspeed and access to back- and sidepeels. Prevent Flight, which is very important for peeltanks, is substantially easier to proc with 2 fast weapons compared to hero. Their burst is slightly higher with Tripple wield and they have an easier time hitting through PBT and breaking speed. |

Most hib tankers will have at least one of each on an assist train. As far as leveling them goes hero will probably be more welcomed as a "tank" for leveling groups, but BM can pull it off with just slightly less effectiveness due to Reinforced vs Scale.
Hib - Falken (BM) / Sneakster (NS) / Kalfen (Enchanter) - Currently Inactive
Alb - Djfalken (Minstrel) - Inactive Mid - Tooeasynothanks |

While I agree with almost everything above, the DPS argument is not clear.
Heroes have the ability to frontload and spike dps in a 0 quickness template, but are shut down by PBT. BMs are great bubble breakers and will out damage a hero over time, especially at higher RR. DW is the reason here - hitting twice and critting twice in one swing. However, this is dependent on RR and relates to damage over time and is not likely to to differentiate in under 10 rounds of melee. Damage is nuanced between the two and isn't the reason to pick one over the other. |

Thanks friends. Have been trying out both toons and think I will go with BM.

That makes no sense. Crit is tied to weapon damage. Critting with a 2H weapon does more damage than critting with DW, but critting with DW is more likely (because 2h weapons). This averages out over time. |

One of each good for melee in groups ^^
If you want more survivability play hero. If you want slightly more dmg and dw play bm Sent from my phone |
