Shroom Problem - Camp Claim

From an animists perspective - I don't tend to use FnF turrets in dungeons for a few reasons...
1 - It's just too hard to control the situation. Mobs seems to roam a LOT on Uthgard v2 compared to v1 so although a safe setup may seem right, a few respawns or a few roaming mobs later and I find myself in trouble. Shrooms are on a 2 minute timer, but right before the last one dies, it pulls (then drops dead)! Leaving me with the fresh aggro it just generated. 2 - It's really hard to know what other players may do, the current area may be clear of players (rare) but even if it is, someone may drag a high level mob as they are escaping. Means I've got to run too basically. If you want an example, consider placing FnF turrets in the center of Muire Crossroads with the intention of catching a few blue spiders as they spawn after clearing the area. This works for about 1 minute, but then you see a group scream past with a train load of aggro they just accidentally pulled from below. Creepers, worms, may be even those nasty chamption Skeles. Shrooms hit them, they proceed to wipe me and possibly any still running players. 3 - Other players don't always understand Animists and FnF turrets. So may turn up and start pulling in the same area. This can result in either a little xp loss for them or unwanted aggro whilst already dealing with mobs. It can also result in people getting upset too. For this reason, unless I'm in a group and they want FnF turrets, I just place my main pet and nuke with it. It's slow but safer in many ways too. - Inqy/Spymistress/Sly -

God I am so glad we dont have to deal with this sort of stuff on Mid. Camps are packed enough on this server. I would lose my mind having to deal with large portions of camps being swallowed up by single shroom spawning Animists. Ill take Bonedancer cancer over Shroom cancer any day.
Just another in the long list of reasons not to play Hib on this server. |

Until you are paired with the Ani and level 40 levels in 6-8 hours, i levelled 5 of my friends to 40 in 6-8 hours. I estimate ill hit them to 45 in the next 8 hours. And after that its Finliath time. DAoC is best with more then 1 guy or girl in the group. =) -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

Yes an animist has the potential to be one of the most disruptive classes, but much more important is the player (or perhaps person it's better to say), behind that class. In that regard, I'd say class and realm are quite irrelevant. It's whether the player knows his class and how to play it in a way that is worthwhile (XP gain, fun, loot etc), but still mindful of his actions to other players in the area. - Inqy/Spymistress/Sly -

Welcome to an overpopulated server. Open SI - problem solved. Second server - problem solved.

I don't play Ani, but if anyone (group or player) can effectively empty a spot he is at and you come later and join in on the spot and in a way which disturbs the first players gameplay, you are the ass. Period.
Nobody is allowed to claim a spot but it is and just has always been good behavior to not add on spots which clearly are on their limit. And when you are just greedy for some seals while df is open it doesnt change etiquette. |

In albion, I met a Necromancer that would invite anybody into his group for exp (same level), his argument was: We are all in the same realm and if I can help my fellow realm mates to level, I will do it. Similarly here, the liberty of one stops where the liberty of other starts: The animist can not exp efficiently to the detriment of other people. If the group of animist/menta/etc.. is camping 3 spots at one in DF it is to the detriment of other people. Explanation: Animist + Menta + Animist + Bard +++etc.. Farm at 200% exp together Hero or Warden or Ranger or Valewalker etc... farm at 25% exp alone since can only take 1 mob every 10 minutes If they share the spot The FG (animist) gets maybe 175% exp The solo gets 125% exp Both gain: WIN-WIN situation You can argue that 8 people farming at 200% and 1 at 25% is better than 7 at 175% and 1 at 125% Math: AVERAGE(8*200%+1*25%)=180% -> 8 happy 1 unhappy AVERAGE(8*175%+1*125%)=170% -> 9 happy but the fairplay/social aspect/w.e is better in the second scenario The real scenario of how this happened is actually: 8 people hitting green-blue mobs and 3 people hitting yellow orange mob so in fact you can see the outcome of the math would be a lot better in scenario 2. You don't get it. The players that think you can't pull all the mobs in a zone because it's not fair and you should share are actually the ones that feel entitled. Because players are literally entitled to pull any and all mobs as long as they pulled it first. Animist or not you're never a dick if you arrive at a spot first and don't leave mobs for newcomers. You're a bit of a dick if you're the newcomer and pull every mob first, but you're still entitled to do so. Sharing all the mobs evenly with this many players slows everone('s fun) down. When spots are full and you're below 20 do tasks, if you're 20+ go pvp a little. |
|
Alright we agree that if a player pulls a mob its considered his, but still the problem is animist put their pet in location that would make it impossible for them not to leech on all the mobs in a spot, so if a guy pulls a mob in this area, the animist will leech it. Again, cant appeal people for your own incompetence. You know what the shrooms do, so stay away from them. They aren't leeching if you pull from somewhere else. My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

Wrong, its considered camp claiming, and its against the rule, if your shrooms are leeching, is appealable for harassment. Reminder to Self: Quality over Quantity, what is the Value here?
