Hi,

since yesterday I experience the problem that NPCs, Mobs and also other Players are disappearing. I have had no other problems so far and in other games I do not experience such things.
I tried to relogg, restart and re-install the game. Nothing changed.

Unfortunately at the moment for me it is unplayable.

Someone has an idea?

Thanks!

Is there something blocking UDP for you?

i thought this was widely known?

Mobs, players etc pop in and out of existence notmally when the server is lagging like crazy.

It really depends when he experienced that. We do a lot stuff in the background to get more players onto the server where such things can happen. If it happens while we are not at the cap, check your connection or ask other players if they experience the same.

Ok, I'll ask next time other players.
I experienced it yesterday between 10 and 12 am, German time, yesterday evening at 6 pm and today at 9 am.

What do you mean by UDP?

UDP = User Datagram Protocol

The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is one of the core members of the Internet protocol suite. The protocol was designed by David P. Reed in 1980 and formally defined in RFC 768. With UDP, computer applications can send messages, in this case referred to as datagrams, to other hosts on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Prior communications are not required to set up transmission channels or data paths.

UDP uses a simple connectionless transmission model with a minimum of protocol mechanism. UDP provides checksums for data integrity, and port numbers for addressing different functions at the source and destination of the datagram. It has no handshaking dialogues, and thus exposes the user's program to any unreliability of the underlying network and so there is no guarantee of delivery, ordering, or duplicate protection. If error correction facilities are needed at the network interface level, an application may use the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) or Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) which are designed for this purpose.

UDP is suitable for purposes where error checking and correction is either not necessary or is performed in the application, avoiding the overhead of such processing at the network interface level. Time-sensitive applications often use UDP because dropping packets is preferable to waiting for delayed packets, which may not be an option in a real-time system.[1]

Thank you, Gil!

Right now it happens again. My DSL speed, regarding the DSL speedtest is 25k atm. So should be enough.
Can it be an error in the graphic card or memory or anything in my hardware?

I had the same problem today and at beta start and the port wasn't blocked...

What helped me was choosing another resolution. But could also be a mere coincidence...

Same prob too in Ardee while crafting : Npc start disappearing after an hour, for few seconds, then reappearing. When present, i sometimes couldn't get him to open inventory (it did after several seconds) but moving/crafting worked though. Also during the end of this crafting session, when the craftbar hit max it took always 2-3 seconds before the result came (failure, or crafted item). By logging out i noticed on irc that the queue had started again, so it might be linked to this. Connection as well as laptop are topnotch and tracert very good (except for the usual "bad" hops once in Europe :P).

In DF this is especially crazy. And it shouldn't be an UDP issue with me, since I opted for +noUdpForMe (because IPv4 has a NAT on ISP side which I have no control to configure).

Had no issues for months using the +noUdpForMe launcher setting for me. Today I am having disappearing NPCs and players all around. Only group members and horses seem to be reliably visible. I am also sometimes having issues when logging in, the login screen freezes for a while and then suddently loading through in like 1second.

Same here, it started last night. I already reinstalled the game, opened the 10400 ports, opted out of UDP in the launcher. It keeps happening.

Players and NPCs disappear some seconds after I enter a zone. I have seen them come back for a few seconds randomly before disappearing again.

I do experience this problem only on one of my computers, but I want to RvR only on this one. Help please!

Edit: [Just tried another laptop, Not seeing characters there either. So I have one PC working, 2 not working]
Edit Edit: All 3 pcs lose characters

@de_kus I found a fix for now. Playing just fine on my uni VPN.

as for the issue, without VPN it keeps happening in my main pc reliably, does happen on my other pcs, but can not reproduce reliably.

Sadly I cannot easily swap network, unless I buy some services. Sometimes I can login fine, but usually it's broken atm..
