I've downloaded the Daoc client trough the official patcher (it's a 3939MB file).

Is that all I need or do I need to continue patching?

You need an account (different fom your forums account) and the Uthgard launcher which will download an additional package after the first launch. Just follow the steps listed under "Getting started" in the top menu.

Oh, I've read that ofc, and know what to do with the uthgard specific launcher...it's just that it's not clear to me if the original 3939MB file is all I need to download before going trough the Uthgard process or if there's more.

Once you have the original full client that is all you need before starting the Uthgard patching process.
