It should definately not be changed, it's one of the only real skill elements of melee combat, just imagine how boring a combat system it would be if the optimal way to fight was just /stick and press a few buttons..

It's just another way for you to gain the edge in a fight if you know how to play, which is a very good thing for the game..

Well as mentioned, my concern is not the ability to use the "lagged movements" of your opponent to sneak a posi style. I can see how this "skill".

It's the way on live servers you were made to "miss", because the enemy left your 180° range, instead of the swing to wait for the person to come back in range, because the client said "hit now" and the server said "when the packet to hit arrived, you couldn't hit, but since you said you wanted to swing, I set your swing on cooldown - bad for you!". I don't see how it is skill to predict what the server will see the opponent in 50ms. Because even when you predict what the enemy will be doing, you cannot exactly predict what the server will see.

The way it works son Uthgard is how i remember it back in the day. Albeit some hazy memory to be honest. On live now, it is different like you said. You can request your style in advance and it will attempt that style when in melee range/view. On Uthgard, you request your style but it will only attempt that style if you are in melee range/view when the game decides the swing time. If you aren't in the right place at the right time it will register as an invalid swing attempt - out of view or range. I believe it will then reset your swing timer once the conditions are met. So by spamming your styles you can effectively request a style in the split second before you swing after your swing timer is reset.

TL;DR - Spam = win
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

If it is what you describe, then the abuse and lag advantage I was talking about the whole time would not be possible on Uthgard. Can someone confirm the current state? I have no solo melee char for Cale, so it would be hard for me to find a "fair" duel to confirm that.

It is possible. The way to abuse the lag is to play your swing timer against their's. Or your swing timer against their /face lag.
