Power Usage and Regen Issues - First Time Player

This post will give my perspective as someone who tried Uthgard for his first DAOC experience yesterday (6/24/2016), in over ten years. My hope is the post is seen as an honest perspective from a first time player and not a rant.
I started leveling a Mana Specced Eldritch on Hibernia. It became instantly obvious how much of a burden power usage and slow power regen was for an Eldritch between levels 6 - 12. In order to kill one yellow con mob I must spend half of my power bar, blue cons are around 1/4 of my power bar or more. This means I can kill two yellow mobs before I am out of power. To regen from 0 power to full power takes anywhere between 3 - 4 minutes. The current state of power usage and regen seems way too unbalanced to allow an engaging and non mind numbing experience of either watching your power bar slowly tick up or going afk for five minutes. My grouping experience was equally frustrating with an extremely high resist rate against reds/purples. I felt I was not adding my proportionate share of DPS that was expected out of me due to the resists, and was merely enjoying the xp earned from melees and others in the group. Power usage in groups is also extremely frustrating even with a mentalist power regen buff. The downtime on the eldritch's power regen meant the group either had to wait for me, or pull without my help while I took 3 or more minutes to regen. One additional issue to note was the inability to sell or drop the Eldritch's staffs. This occurred with the starter training staff as well as other looted staffs. |

Thank you for your advice. Is your suggestion a valid workaround, or is the power downtime and resist rates something that needs to be looked at further for the level range and non power regen players?
I can't speak for higher levels or characters using power regen buffs. |

there will always be resists espacial against red+ Mobs. But on the same Side, Melees wont hit those mobs with every strike as well, so you dont have to feel that useless ,)
And since often even 1 lvl difference in low levels is a jump up in Mob color, you wont get that that feel that fast. Also try to not get below 50% Power since u reg slower if under that threshold. Try to obtain Staff with a proper amount of Focus plus consider taking a lvl or two in Serenity and/or MCL (both are Realmabilitys) those help alot with Power Management All in all, yes daoc isent that fast paced game a newer Gamer is used too, but its not that bad after you passed the early levels.
