Looking to roll a sorc. Will be doing most of my leveling solo. But I still want to be decent in groups so I assume I should have mind for the Pom.

First question is how do sorc do solo leveling wise in Uthgard? Am I able to chain yellow/oj perhaps ? Would use a pet I imagine to make it easier.

Second question is starting stats...plan on being a Breton which I know is not the ideal race. Was thinking 10dex, 10int, 10qui. What y'all think ?

-Mind/body (or Mind/matter), you need the pe, and PoM.

-Only necros can chain kill mobs fast with no downtime solo.

-Inconnu 15 dex 10 int. QUI wont do you any good.

Sorc are decent solo, you dont need anyone, you have a lot tools to save yourself from a streak of resists, or a bunch of adds, it s comfortable to farm with a sorc. And you re very welcome in grps too. I d go body personnally, that s what i chose on my sorc.

edit: body/mind that is.

I never liked the mind/matter spec for solo leveling although it may be viable at this patch level? I don't remember...

You will essentially have no nuke. Just a baseline body lifetap that will hit for crap since no body spec..and takes tons of power.

You do get a DD snare at 17 matter spec (I think) which might change things up. I feel like that did not hit very hard when I tried it.

For soloing with this (any) spec you pretty much want to keep mind high enough to have an equal level pet and dump the rest in matter.

until you get the DD snare
--Send in pet
--str/con debuff if possible
--stack two dots
use lifetap in emergencies

Remember DoTs work against your CC strengths if things go south. If you get aggro too early there is no CC options for escape with a ticking DoT.

One you get the DD Snare you can use that. You do have the dex/quick debuff but I've never been sure of its viability. I never bothered to waste power on it. The mind based str/con debuff makes spells hit for more including DoTs so that is quite useful. I myself just never like relying on DoTs for damage.

I've been playing with the Mind/Body. I've found it is most effective to just fight yellows up to this point (lev 27, mediocre gear). Oranges are possible but resists seem quite high, pet takes a lot of damage and there is more downtime. I would rather kill two yellows than deal with an orange at this point.

With this spec you can send in your pet and use your spec body nuke (it will often be lower delve than baseline lifetap) but it uses much less power and doesn't get you aggro as fast. You still have a baseline matter DoT that you can apply if you just want to add a little extra damage while the pet is attacking.

I can usually take out 2-3-4 yellows before needing to sit and recharge (that is with a staff with body focus) depending on yellow level and resists, pet type, mob type.
