I never played the Friar, but I always loved to concept of the Class...
I know that as Group Class, is not the best, and if you don't have a Guild that back you up, and you are not good enough is hard to get Grouped... But speaking about it as a Solo-Class... I have some questions: 1) Which is his current state on the 1.65? 2) Which is the best Build? 3) How it is compared to a ValeWalker (Class that I'm really used to), always in terms of soloing? 4) Which RAs should I prioritize? Thank you everybody ![]() Paladinodimerda <-> 4l2 Avalonian Paladin - LWRP: 1

after playing quite some friar in beta to freshen up my memories i can tell you the following..
1. very niche, underrated, still not....good., suffers from 1.5x skillpts a LOT (1.8x would make him viable ...but not gonna happen), very flexible in pve situations., not garbage in rvr but suffers from being in the albion environment. alb just cant afford to take a friar in an 8 man grp without sacrificing something more important. 2. there is no best build. you build a friar around the tasks you want him to fulfill. 3. quite similar tbh. its like a defensive VW. less WS and the lack of skillpts hurt him a lot tho. (that is grp rvr only..in rvr i only farmed friars as i was playing casters most of the time which a friar cant do ANYTHING about) 4. depends. here you will probably want passives. dodger and MoParry asap to get your farm game going. be efficient. get lvl 2 passives before trying to get dodger III or something more crazy. get AugDex II asap. str tertiary is hilarious. |

I asked purely about Soloing in PvP, and you answered about PvE or Group RvR... Anyway thank you... Paladinodimerda <-> 4l2 Avalonian Paladin - LWRP: 1

Will be useful in raid environment though, because of resists. |

Guys, maybe there are some language barrier that are making this so difficult...
But I DON'T CARE about PvE or 8v8 RvR, I asked precised questions about SOLO PVP. Paladinodimerda <-> 4l2 Avalonian Paladin - LWRP: 1

No mention of PvP in original post. RAs maybe, but that's it

And no one even speaked about Soloing even in PvE, so your points are meaning less...
If you like to make polemical statements only because you like to be the most cool guy in the Forum is okey, but even after the second comment I explicity said about PvP, for who didn't understand... If you like to defend people that don't even read the Thread, and answer casually... At least defend someone that actually didn't understand for a MY error, and not someone that didn't even bother read... If someone gave me an answer about PvE SOLOING, I would simply said (As I did anyway), "I was speaking about PvP" So I don't see why you spend time to comment this Thread if you don't even answer the questions... i like 45 enh, 44 staff, 18 parry, 7 rejuv for solo. however people often go 47 enh for the higher haste/heat resist. you will probably also want purge for solo pvp.

For solo pvp i would lower staff to 39 to have counter evade chain. 44 is end style of side style chain, hard to land and 44 is the 3th style...
7 reju can be ok even i would advice 18. 45 buff ok but i would recommand higher resist and less parry. You ll face other soloers or duo small man. You will also duo and small man too. Consider soloing as visible without speed is nightmare. But sure you could tell yourself fantaisies. You, you and your mate will face shammy es, enchanters and other solo duo casters, having max resist is important. So to have at least 18 heal. But yeah it is up to you roaming solo, without speed, stealth or determination without any available cc in addition. |

horrible solo class, any stealth will whittle you down any visible running solo probably wins due to range. I personally love the class and its a good cheap 'farm' class because of the almost non existent downtime.

That s what i was trying to explain to the original poster.
But he asked for advices about pure solo. I tried my best even i think he lives in a Dream. |

Asking for how good a Class could be in Solo-PvP is dreaming?
I said anywhere that the Friar is a good Soloer? I ASKED FOR THIS... No comment. Paladinodimerda <-> 4l2 Avalonian Paladin - LWRP: 1

uhm. okay. i kinda regret putting that much effort in my first reply now :>
but because im such a nice guy...im just gonna do it again! but of course for solo pvp now. lets see. 1.garbage. friars suck @ solo pvp. they look good on paper but get kited into oblivion. only if somebody is stupid enough to /stick and try to fight him head on the friar is going to win with a high probability. keep in mind hes a visible and slow af. people are going to pick fights and outnumber you. you MIGHT surprise an assassin or two...but thats it. 2. 44 staff, 45 buff, 7 heal, 18 parry. depending on how to-hit and defpen work on uth 2.0 you might also wanna go with 39 staff and dump the rest into parry. 3. VWs wipe the floor with friars and can be a hard matchup for many classes if played well. friar is food for any class that has some sort of cc. 4. id still get defensive passive RAs asap. get dodger 2, moparry 2, some mopain then the usual solo RAs....(you know....purge and ip.) ur welcome! |
