i hardly doubt that reavers are "needed"

I would assume that what he meant by Armsmen, Mercs and Reavers being "needed" have less to do with Reavers in the specific and more about Tanks/Off-Tanks that can DPS. Melee-DPS as it were. |

One of the best team i played against back in the days was running with a reaver, I doubt the class sux, I dont know if the class is underrated but all I can tell you, dont misjudge the reaver, I believe that in the right hands it can be lethal

Being a partial part member of FC from Excalibur - Albion, i can sure tell you that all classes are lethal if the group is build around them. I have been part of groups roaming with friar, scout, reaver with extensive success in RP farm. Except for that nasty NP savage group... EDIT: Just to make this clear, I am talking strictly for best competitive 8v8 fights. As FC was in the top 3 Albion competitive groups. |

Let's put it that way, in a team your goal is to create a good synergy betweeen all the classes and reaver is one of the top class in that way, or at least i feel like it is

The Reaver can OutDamage pretty much any Class if he can get behind the Target (Pretty easy)...
The only problem is that people are scared about the lack of determination, so they will not group you... If you have a good Group (That will prioritize De-Mezzing you) that trust you, and you are a good Player, you will have no problem... Only be carefull about Roots, this is the only thing that make you useless... A Valewalker could deal decent damage even if rooted, you can't... You could Interrupt some time, but only at close range and only every long period of time... |

The main problem with Reavers in random groups (unless you are in a dedicated group), is not the fear of root ( which can be countered partially with a support class running near you when kiting so you can brake root with intercept) but the problem with playing their auras like an accordion, ending up braking CCs and creating a havoc. Most of the randomly created RvR groups avoid generally hybrids, trying to fill up the group spots with classes that have the highest chance of winning. Of course, deep down almost no random group will have chances winning a dedicated group (that is not clowning around or no-brainer), despite if they have filled the spots with the most "leet" classes. |

I agree with everything you just said and then some,
Back to the topic i think reaver is a needed class as a good reaver will always stand out. That's my first time playing Albion and I can't wait to be part of somethin' alongside a reaver. They really add value Uth' beta :

Being a good player reduces the time spent rooted and mezzed ![]() The only reason scouts, ice wizards and other less than optimal classes worked in 8v8 was the big difference in player skill and game knowledge back than, you could get away with alot more than nowadays. To be honest after watching some of the Uthgard Streams it seems alot of them still play exactly like 10 years ago, but those who don't will punish you even more. Basic Alb groups will run 2 clerics, and 2 non-paladin/reaver tanks everyday. Armsman and Mercs are in short supply. Everything else is covered. RvR cabalist also (i.e. not full matter spec).
