clicking on the play button, an error message pops up saying the game is already running and its not. I have shut down and restarted twice to make sure its not running in the background somehow. Not sure what else to do, I've opened up my task manager and gone through each process and nothing that says daoc or uthgard is running. I even uninstalled the launcher twice and re installed it and the same thing keeps happening. not sure what else to try.

1. start the game from launcher
2. click the red play button from browser
3. get error saying game is running already when its not

I have the same problem. The launcher runs, i log in, hit the play button, the launcher updates, checks client, and then nothing happens. Uthgard.exe and uth.dll stay active so when I try again, It says it is already running.

Everything worked great, even the web launcher, until yesterday afternoon. I have tried everything, deleting app data file, clearing cookies, reinstalling the launcher, restarting, deleting registry entries, and reinstalling everything but the game. To get rid of the already open message you have to kill uthgard.exe and uth.dll in task manager but it still will not load the game when I try again.

Windows 7 home premium with firefox and chrome.

You have try to close your browser and clear memory cache ? the uth launcher are linked app with your browser, I think that it is still considered as opened has cause browser

uthgard.exe and uth.dll stay active in task manager processes even after clearing cache and restarting browser. The only way to close them is manually or restart. I ran "uthgard://test" and got the smiley face and see no errors in the developer tools under network.

Can you try playing around with the anti virus, firewall and similar, and try getting it to work somehow? Since the problem is only affecting you and maybe 1-2 other users, I think it has to be very specific to your setup.

Background if it helps: I had to change the way the game process is launched -- instead of launching it in a running state, the process is now created as "suspended" (not doing anything), and then resumed later on. For some reason it seems like the resume part is not working on your system.

i have the same problem, but an easy fix is just kill al the uthgard tasks in the task manager. wait 5 seconds and it launches flawless.

I have the same problem now, logged out last night 6/8/2016 and now when I try to startup says I have game running already, I've nuked every process in task manager yet error still persists ( I don't see Uth.dll or a camelot or anything related to daoc in the process list, only when I leave the error message up is there a Uth Launcher in the task list)

Restarting did fix it, but there was a process windows had to force close, maybe it didn't exit cleanly last night and was only a partial so it wouldn't show up in task list?

Got to load character this time, and the loading screen then This process is not responding, close now error is back with you have game running and no process in task list

I had been having this error and it was getting worse. What I did to remedy the situation was basically follow the install instructions for Uthgard. After completely uninstalling every .NET framework, C++ install, game, and launcher, I reinstalled exactly as directed via the Getting Started page, and haven't been having any issues since. Hope this helps someone else.
