I'm kinda stuck between - like every class...
But I think a caster/support/healer class would be best?

What are groups like on this server?
Are groups abundant?
Would an ice/fire/earth wizzy help?
Are they melee groups usually? I could do earth or ice theurg...
Or maybe a resto/staff friar for backup heals/HoTs?

I heard we have plenty of Paladins, so we probably don't lack tanks.
Plenty of Necros - so power support isn't much of an issue.
I'm sure there's lots of reavers since we're back to single style levi.

I've done my fair share of reading... I really like the capabilities of the Wizzy, but I'm worried they'll suck solo.

actually,as of right now,almost every class fits in somewhere. and wizards DO suck solo. big time. reason? power-management = huge!! downtime.

Does grouping and ice spec help any?
I'm not real sure on how gameplay goes here.

well. of course. a well built ice wiz grp is one of the best ways to level. period.
keep in mind: for optimal effect you will want 2 tanks, 3 pbaoe,2 healers/buffers, 1 manamanagement-class - sorc or minstrel (power and emergency CC)

my personal protip: play the class you like best and MAKE IT WORK. find people that will accept you and your class. have fun.

that never hapens, he is just gona take the agro and die. plus wizies arn't that popular in pvp, spetialy with all the cabys around.

If you're talking end game, sorc is the strongest solo caster there is. PVE I would go with theurg or cab if you want to solo some high end content. Wizard is strait dps caster succeptable to resist and power issues. The trade of is the extreme kill speed against like level mobs 1 at a time. That said, the wizard only has one place in rvr and thats siege/zerg warfare.

I plan to make an Ice Wizzy for leveling and then once I have enough cash respec to earth or fire, still undecided. Once he gets RR5 I am going to tri spec just for ****** and giggles to see what he is capable of.

It's not an 8v8 class, that's for sure but it does have it's place in keep defense.

Fire wizard doing tasks is not terrible but if the bolts both miss kite off the mob and try again.

I've been soloing on my wizzie just fine...

Yeah aint a whole lot of times that happens eh?

Finding other wizards to group with a coordinating a VP attack on a mid/hib zerg makes the toon worth it though. Ultimate AJ specialists lol.

I play on zerg/siege mostly...
I have no shame in the alb zerg. That's just part of the fun man.

and to the people that say that wizzies are decent soloers:
ofc you can solo till you are in your mid 20s early 30s...but downtimes get really rough at some point.
