Then I don't know anything other than searching the web for that problem. I assume it has to be some deep Windows issue if that setup fails.

It seems you can't install any of those if you don't have at least windows SP1 on Win 7.
I'm not sure whether it fill fix it for you, cause my computer refuses ton install SP1... :s

I had the same problem, fixed it by downloading the x64 version instead of the x86.
Also, run Windows Update, apparently you need to have at least updates from dec 2014 installed to be able to run this thing...

under certain circumstances the "Setup failed" error occurs when MVC++ Redistributable 2015 is already installed in a form or another. Try to uninstall it first before and make sure you run the installer with admin privileges.
Also I confirm that this is x86 version that you need as daoc is using this one and not the x64 to run.
When the installation is complete the missing DLL should be located in your windows folder under System32.

What do you mean run the installer with admin privileges? I tried reinstalling both the MVC++ Redistributeable 2015 x86 (x64 wont install) and the Microsoft NET 4.6... still no dice.

Also, found those .dll files in the original daoc directory, tried to copy and paste them into the System32 to see if they would run but negative.

If you can manage to get the DLL files that come along with the VC2015 Redist x86, you can put them in your DAoC root folder and it will work.
I mean that you don't *need* to install it.
The question is more about where to get the files because redistributing them is not allowed. If you have another computer where the VC2015 is installed, pick them from the System32 folder and put it on your computer in your DAoC folder.
DO NOT download the files from an untrusted provider as they may contain malware.

This is a bit weird but this is the only solution I can give you at the moment and given your problem and configuration settings.

I got the same error. I upgraded to windows 10 (free till June atm I think) from windows 7 professional and was able to install it correctly. After that everything worked.

wow I finally got it working. I had to upgrade from windows xp to vista, then install the .net and other updates required, patched the client. I installed all the .dll from another computer because the x86 update wouldn't finish. uninstalled those .dlls and patched the client again and boom works now, no 1.65 failed to inject, no missing api-core dll crap, no windows crashing, no failed to launch program because is not win32 blah blah

It should not of been this difficult.
