I am really having a hard time choosing between a sorcerer and a cabalist. Here are my questionts for each and any insight would be much appreciated.

Cabby:

-Money!!! Will farming ellyls and trinketing be good here on Uth 2.0? And will crafting up to 800 metal take forever?

-Easy to level and can be a good nuker in caster groups. Wondering how I will fit in RvR groups with high population...

Sorc:

-Awesome in all aspects of RvR and my favorite.

-Money for template and pots is a concern. Is this enough to roll a cabby first? Potential raid class with power?

sorc imo.
1. the server will be FLOODED with cabs and all good spots will probably be contested af.
2. good sorcs will be rare and alb needs all the help it can get. also in the first months you can build quite an advantage getting easier rps. which is quite valuable on a sorc. moreso than on a cab.
3. leveling will be a breeze. buff grp - go afk :p
4. sorc has more variety. (charm)
5. casters are cheap to temp anyway. you wont need 200 plat.
6. sorc. go roll a sorc.

sorc has basically everything you need for a pleasant leveling experience imho. u have speed to get from a to b more enjoyably, u have pom (yes im aware you can pet dump as a cabby, still tho) u have some fun things for fiddling around in BG's and so on and so forth. but it comes down to personal preference i guess cause no matter how many spots will be taken you can always find another.

from a personal standpoint, which is totally subjective, id recommend rolling sorc :)

Thanks for the insight both of you! Now that you mention it there will probably be tons of cabby's for farming so I will probably go sorc

the farmers will choose necro, not cab.

for rvr, do you want to be MA or a mez/assister ?

Well for RvR I would go sorc because they can solo way better if population is low.

But on Genesis I farm crazy gold with a Cabby. I also have a necro but I make money way faster on my Cabby.

If money won't be much of an issue than I will main a sorc. I just don't know how much I will want to level both. Guess it depends on how slow it goes.

I'm going to apply to Vanquish soon btw :)

Remember this is not Genesis, this is true to classic where casters have a lot of mana issues when farming, which is why most people take Necro

...are you trying to say a cab has mana issues? wat.
with a cleric-buddy a necro might be superior...but solo i think a cab farms way, way faster.
anyway, we get a chance to test it in beta soon :>

Are you trying to say cabs never had mana issues in classic? wat.
People seem to forget how little power people had back then, we had to pop MCL every time it was up and had to sit down to regen.
Also in AOE farming a necro is far superior with a cleric because the shade can not get aggro and the damage shield requires no focus, so the necro can quickcast 3-4 pbaoe while still doing the damage shield.

problem with cabby if i remember correctly is due to the lack of powerpool its kinda like: petdump to 100%, cast pet (75%?) buff like movespeed buff or something and then you basically have the option to still having to reg or to initiate a pull with like 70% or so mana.
at least thats what my memory tells me, plus you dont have that much castspeed so dumping isnt as glorious as compared to live i guess but im not entirely sure only thing i know is necro definately takes the cake for classic farming. is it fun tho? you decide for yoursel, i still vote for you rolling a sorc :D

In my experience it was perfect farming as solo Cab:

1. Pet dump to 100%

2. Cast pet to 70%ish

3. Salvage metal drops till 100% power

4. Aoe and collect loot

5. Rinse and repeat

*With salvaging while waiting for regen I only had downtime when my bags were full or encumbered.

*Never farmed with necro and cleric buddy...who wants to split loot anyway? 8)

if i can get to full mana in half a minute - who cares? other classes need approximately 7 years. thats not a mana issue. not when you compare it to other classes @ classic setting.
and as i said before...a nec with cleric is probably faster. yeah. but it also requires 2 real people. since no bbs.
i doubt any class can match a cabs farming speed. solo that is.
