if u want to do lvl50 rvr, u dont need that selfbuffs, because u can get dex/qui charge which is a little bit stronger than ranger buff, and damage add charge, which is stronger too than ranger buff;)

Regarding that Uthgard is a buffbot-free zone and is meant to be a classic server
I will give you a short analysis of the archer classes:

Ranger - stealth, bow, dual, weapon, pathfinding (5 skill lines)
Hunter - stealth, bow, spear, beastcraft (4 skill lines)
Scout - stealth, bow, shield, weapon (4 skill lines)

Ranger:

+ access to 5.5delay bows=very high bow dmg
+ lurikeens have got very high dexterity 80 (bow dmg is dex based)
+ selfbuff line with a dmg-add, str base and a speed boost (escape mechanism)
+ celtic dual and piercing line has got very good styles including stun-styles
+ possibly the best allrounder
- needs a high realmrank to be a good allrounder due to variety of speclines
- if specializing to melee or ranged he will suffer strong drawbacks in other lines

=> possibly the best archerclass, but needs high RR to be

Scout:

+ access to 5.5delay bows=very high bow dmg
+ saracens have got very high dexterity 80 (bow dmg is dex based)
+ can spec in shields giving them a 9sec anytimer stun and very good defense
+ best sniper due to lack of variety -> can spec bow50, shield42, stealth37, 18weapon
+ Albion has got a stealth-speedclass (minstrel)
- worst melee dmg-dealer, but best melee-defense!
- has got no escape mechanism (timed speed shout)

=> best sniper of all but has no gimmicks besides shield

Hunter:

+ access to spear-line which includes a very powerful backstun-combo
+ access to 5.5delay spears=very high melee dmg
+ beastcraft line gives the hunter selfbuffs and a petcharm + instant pet!
+ speed shout in beastcraft line=escape mechanism
+ only stealther with access to a crush weapon (dragon spear) =>leather armor is vulnerable to crush=+15%dmg
- has only access to 5.0delay bows=mediocre bow dmg

___

If you want to play your archer for a longer time (RR5+) the best choice
would be the ranger.
If you want to just play a little around or want to have an alternative char
besides your mainchar the best choice would be hunter or scout depending
if you want to make ranged or melee combat.

With regards
Sethor

Sethor is right, but.
Consider that your pet is for rupting only (it does not deal damage)
Also consider that spear dmg is lower than dw, has a very low chance to hit and with the high delay, one or two misses kill you.

Depends on the spec. If you go for melee hunter (44 or 50spear skill) you
won't miss that often and deal high dmg, but thats something for assasin
hunters.
The pet unluckily is as Isador said only a rupt pet. On live servers the pet
was buffed a bit and became overpowered, because it could spam garotte
(snare style) and proc a disease which extremly slowed the hunters target ^^

Realm versus Realm means:
Everybody of some Realm, against everyone of the other Realms..
