Due it ´s not possible to have characters from different realms on one account it ´s meant that it ´s only possible to pick one realm? What does the clarification "master" account mean? It is possible to combine it with other (twink) accounts with other realm choice but the master account is the main account? regards Meg |

One master account can hold unlimited game accounts. It is like a wrapper.

.2 Account sharing is not allowed.
Does this mean that i can never log a friend's account? even for few times (using crafters, salvagers etc etc)? |

Thanks for answering my post Nayru

That ´s what the ruleset says currently. I prefered the old rule : allowed to share accounts but when something bad happens cause of that,- no mercy by staff. I suppose there was too much trouble caused of players who had problems caused of sharings and complain about treatment by staff (ex girlfriend deleted chars, friend used account for craft tool and account got banned, stolen items, money etc.) . These problems were probably very annoying for the staff cause it took much time to solve them, might be the reason it ´s forbidden now. Too bad, I enjoyed the guild-crafter accounts, it saved much money and time. ![]() |

How will this affect me and my girlfriend playing together? (we play next to each other, same public IP etc) Its funny because in the entire time on uthgard #1, we never had to perform any test to show we were 2 players :p |

You'll have two different accounts and two different computers (how else could you play together?) so you'll be fine I'm sure. Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

Programmer/developer here (my first line of code was actually in C# for a DoL server back when I was 15 in 2005!), wanted to give a very technical breakdown of the problem concerning limiting users to one "master account"/preventing x-realming. Unfortunately computers are not just magic, and they work under the laws of math.
This problem revolves around one central concept : Identification. Here's how identification on the internet usually works. When you are connected to the internet, your ISP (internet service provider) gives you a unique address (for example, 76.123.12.203). This is the only piece of data that developers have to work with in terms of identification of a machine connecting for the first time. Your ISP may assign you a different IP address at random points in time. And its very possible for a machine to be ran through a proxy, masking its true IP. So what most freeshard websites/systems use are accounts, whose primary means of identification is an email address. This allows you to be identified BEYOND your IP address. This is nice, but its very easy for someone to attain multiple email addresses, allowing someone to combine the "proxy" explained above AND a different email address to gain access to the system, and a new anonymous/different "person", as the IP is different. Now, actual game developers/companies have the privilege of using a often limited resource called MONEY as a way of Identification. If you are caught hacking/etc, your account, which you paid money for, and now have lost. You can get as many IP addresses and email addresses as you want, but few people in most cases can afford to keep shelling out cash for a benefit that may be taken away again. The inability to charge money for access is the biggest pain point that freeshards have. Because you can't use a limited resource as primary means for identification & authorization, you are at the mercy of users abusing multi-account/x-realming rules anonymously. Besides close monitoring of a suspected player (which is based upon hunches/social engineering), you have no way of finding exploiters and permanently banning them (as a person, not just their account). I would gladly shell out money to Uthgard as a requirement for registration, but many kids that don't have access to credit cards/paypal, and legality is obviously a huge factor in this regard.. |
