If you play a lot and are in good groups getting to 50 in 1 week maybe little less would be great. Slow is not a bad thing on uthgard if the server continues to have high population of active altoholics.

How many time played you in uthgard? Saw you if leveling brings the community together? Really there are 2 communities in server, pvers and pvpers. There are mucho more pvers than pvpers, and these 2 communities never will stay together.
In my opinion pvpers are more important community , and they need fast leveling to to rvr. Pvers will stay there with hard o easy leveling.

Uthgard 2.0 need easier leveling, lowest mobs repop time, to have more players in rvr and not in spending in pve.

interesting concept, according to you there are much more 'pver's' than 'pvper's', but still you think 'pvper's' are the more important community?
who do you think keeps the server running then if the 'pvper's' get their way with their 'me me me' approach and PvE oriented players leave?
luckily, it seems Uthgard will stay true to classic DAoC as of 1.65 :D
its fairly shortsighted to not see the negative impact fast levelling has on economy and community
I hear live servers deliver that fast levelling, short attention span experience you are looking for ...if thats still too slow you might consider an i50 shard

cheers

PvPers do not per se have a short attention span. Sticking with RvR, possibly as part of a set group, takes a lot more dedication than rolling one toon after another, me thinks.

That being said, if someone is genuinely interested in PvP on Uthgard 2.0, I doubt that PvE will be major obstacle. Or to put it another way, if someone is not able to join a guild and stick it out for 2-3 weeks ganking mobs, then he/she won't have too much fun in RvR either (especially on a low pop server as Uthgard was and probably is going to be again).

I will agree that Uthgard needs more people doing RvR though, but I don't see this being linked to the PvE grind. That is more a question of mind set and the design of RvR in itself. On Uth 2.0 it just took way to long to get anything done in RvR without a really disciplined group/guild. But I don't see the devs tweaking the OF setting to be more in line with the player numbers (small player numbers -> smaller zone or shorter travel/down times needed).

Correct game mechanics and completed and properly working classes is what you need. Want to know how genesis isn't daoc? Spend 20 minutes leveling to 5. When you are doing 33 points of damage at lvl 5 with your recruit staff? Then you know. When you cast lifetap and 2 of 3 spells are resisted by blues? Then you know.

I played a little lethantis and the mechanics aren't quite right there either. Variance is messed up and the mobs run faster than they are supposed to. Virtually no resists on lethantis. Damage seems sup par.

If the game mechanics aren't right then at best you can brag about metagaming whatever system you are playing but you can't even claim to be good at daoc because it isn't.

I'm actually on live now and you can see when you and the mobs are doing about the same damage and there are very few resists? That is right. Even pets on Genesis? Damage is all wrong and damage doesnt scale correctly vs different level mobs.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.

Not sure which level you are on this PvP server, but in daoc a lot of things are rounded off. So if you are low level formulas might not scale as they are supposed to due to heavy rounding.
Noone is interested in correct lvl 1-30 formulas. What matters is lvl 50 8) For the rest you have to deal with it.

It's the other way round: slow PvE is important for PvP.

Keeps the server hoppers off RvR. And you can assume that at least most of the lvl50 players have spent some weeks with their character before entering RvR. Altough there is no guarantee, of course.
“DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Uthgard 1.0: <Die Lettanten> Ivia - 8L8 Nightshade - Lone Enforcer since 8L1.
Uthgard 2.0: <Illuminated Stormriders> Oxy - Hero; Ivia - Nightshade.

Slow pve is also great for something that most of the pvpers, specifically 8man set groups don't care for, MEETING NEW PLAYERS.

Wow, Requiem talking  .

Ok, honestly I get your points but in my opinion a well suited char with good gear and decent realmrank has to go all the ways to reach it goals, you might disagree, that ´s ok. The game contains rvr and pve parts and I still don ´t get why you still try to seperate the pve and pvp aspects or try to make one more worth then the other one,-that ´s a bit simple minded in my opinion.

Both factors belong to daoc and make it that great game as it is. I know some of that elitist pvp players are former Eden i50 belovers,- a server that failed at the end, why? Maybe missing pve part like it is a counterstrike in camelot look and got boring after a while even if the pvp system might still be the best of all games?

I ´m pretty sure the majority is ok too with the pve part too, at least it ´s also a bit alternation to pvp and reverse. It ´s only a small bunch of players that would like to see the pve part removed or patched to doom,-well you ´ll have Camelot Unchained soon for your favour, there is no or little pve parts in it, might be a better playground for you. Until then you ´ve to deal with daoc beauty,- all inclusive ;-).

There are probably no or less pve-love customizations by staff, as said before it would counter staffs goals for a realistic classic pve server. Just my 2 cents.

On Genesis I'm 100% sure that stuff doesn't work right, specifically damage doesn't scale right, melee damage is too high, resists are too high.

As to Lethantis, I saw enough to think that it isn't quite right. And as for the mobs running faster than normal do you think that matters by level? LOL

I may play around on lethantis a little more but I'm actually looking at pets on live right now.

And as to the other topic you want to support all styles of play to increase population because population is key.

Edit, lethantis seems more accurate than genesis. At least regarding pets

Good to see the server is making progress. Good to see people are still prawling theese forums and trolling like it's 2010.

Anyways, i might even pop in and play some hib when Uthgard is back online, and ofcourse, promote the server like i always have.

PvE is an one month obstacle, while RvR is 3+ years of pure fun/hate.
