Well, mid studded/chain users (berzerk, savage, thane, warrior, shaman, healer)
are not real primary targets of a Ranger no matter if melee or in ranged
combat...you can try, but you will fail at a high percentage. All bow-classes
got heavily nerfed back in hmm think it was around 1.4x. Since that day
bows do crappy dmg :/
The dmg of bows is I believe pretty much ok and seems to be live-like.
Btw...wherefrom did you know your targets had maximum melee resists?
Did you already make some testings? Have you thought about racial
extra resists?

With regards
Sethor

I asked a few people what their template was and also fought enough of particular classes to notice this seeming oddity as well. As I said though I will need to do thorough testing in the near future. If anyone would be willing to volunteer some time to assist with this it would be helpful as I would like to come up with a testing strategy that will encompass as many of the suspected issues with using as little of anyone elses time as possible. Generally I wish to perform a few 1000 hit tests for statistical accuracy if this becomes necessary. The results may be benificial for bringing into balance (if there is indeed something wrong ) with more classes and abilities than just rangers/archers.

Here is a list of some things that I would like to go through and check

1. What was the base damage calculation formula on live as of 1.80 and how is it done on uthgard? I.e how do buffs, char stats and all other factors contribute to base damage calculation also.

2. Is base damage fluctuating more than it should?

3. Are style growths being improperly calculated?

4. Are armor table resists working as they should? Meaning are armors giving the proper resists and vulnerabilities to the appropriate damage types.

5. How do class based dmg modifiers work. Example light tanks have 2.2 dmg modifiers, archers and assassins have 1.8 dmg modifier. The place where i first found out about this information was http://daoc.ezhiki.ru/
but this site no longer exists. I asked around here and I was told that these class modifiers do indeed exist and are used so I would like to find out how they work in the overall damage calculations and to see if there is anything out of th eordinary going on. Perhaps ranger (and other classes) is 1.0 dmg modifier instead of 1.8 or some such by accident.

btw as far as bow dmg is concerned, I havent played live since december of 2003 but I recall on my bone dancer being hit for 800+ crit shots. I was looking over the VN forums earlier and i found this

http://vnboards.ign.com/albion_rogue_pr ... 2983678/p1

Which to me, seem to indicate some serious change to archery post 1.80 and which seems in line to what the current dmg is doing on uthgard...
If you look at this, people are posting about their pre 'nerf' crit shots ranging up to 1000 dmg (which is what i recall being possible to happen on casters). I have yet to hit any level 50 caster here for over 600ish with over 50 bow spec withotu a crit of some sort. I would definitely like to use more target types on this testing but so far it doesnt look good..

Thanks. I may have to take you up on this offer.

One further point i would like to make is this. Current live information should not be the basis for any of the information for any testing nor for anything implemented unless it can be proven to have been unchanged. Meaning this, if archery dmg or anything else was changed since 1.80 then obviously current live data would be irrelevant. My understanding is that archery damage on live atm is substantially different than what it was prior...
