I mean, Genesis started with like more than 3000 players trying to log in at the same time. And managed to scare away most of them in no time. :D
The last bug fix (that did not make the server unplayable for a week and had to be rerolled) is like... 2-3 months old?
Doesn't sound too promising to me :D

But it is nevertheless the only more or less crowded daoc freeshard left. :?

It seems you're talking more to hear that from experience .. Uthgard is proof that only the constancy and the work on the problems reward .. is what genesis team did since was opened. if you think it's possible to have a perfect server without problems at day one you did not understand what you are talking about

I did play on Genesis (6L something), and sure it improved over time. The last time I played there the basic mechanics even worked quite well. Mob camps and spawns still horribly wrong, but who cares about pve.

But the most annoying bugs are in the old RA, and the meanest bugs are not even addressed yet. And I am in fear no one even knows how wrong most RA are implemented there. And even if someone who cares knows, how is he going to prove it? Old videos don't show everything.

But sure, if you are not interested or don't know livelike old RA daoc, you might have more fun than me playing there. Sometimes knowledge is a curse. :wink:

I'm of course interested to livelike old style RA DAoC but, and uthgard revamp shows this, it takes time...

on the subject of genesis.

when the server first launched it crashed every 10 minutes, they've fixed this issue and now spent almost 2 years TRYING to fix bugs they have created.

Whilst the game breaking bugs that were apart of genesis since launch have been left untouched.

it is what it is, i just feel sorry for the people who are new to DAoC and have their first impressions stained by such a crappy server, meanwhile the rest of us are just killing time waiting for uthgard playing on the only classic'ish server available.

If you know how they should be it doesnt take 2 years to make them.. actually i remember that those Old RAs were almost (if not already) done..

So, no.. it shouldn't take that much time, it's surely some other reason :roll:
There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

The last bug fix was very recent, in the last few days, the staff are very active and communicate with the community to let them know what's happening.

erm no.

last few days have been stressful on genesis and filled with clueless speculation.

all albs doing x2 damage and capping with no variance.
inf PA hitting up to 1600 damage.
resulted in all relics being reset.

throughout the whole duration no explanation was given.

erm yes, I can't link the forum posts but just look in their news section. Plenty of updates from the staff.

Not saying the server is perfect but yes they do try and fix problems and yes they do keep players updated.

2 days after the bug they post something, ye sounds great, and all they post is we are aware of the problem, well i should bloody hope so lol.

the bug they were initialy trying to fix compared to the bug they created, imo they should of instantly undone their fix and try to tackle the initial problem that nobody knows about again.
