Um if people don't then why are they here? I am trying out Genesis myself to see how it is. I remember trying it over a year ago and it was crap but now minus some graphical bugs it seems ok. I have no doubt I will return to Uth when it comes back but I could not wait any longer to play some form of Dark age.

Guys when unchained is released Uthgard will die as well as genesis so for now keep using this sight for personal opinions at least we can use uthgard for something usefull.

so far I am not convinced CU will be able to replace DAoC, no PvE means you have a limited world, reduced to RvR.... while I like RvR I also do want the balance PvE brings, also in terms of experiencing lore/background ...
also I do not like the design of the races in CU so far..

so, no, I do not think CU will hurt DAoC freeshards in the long run... there will be a rush to CU initially but a lot of people will come back imho

I have seen ****** of offers from programmers and developers to help get the project moving over the last several years.

I am starting to think that it is something legal with regards to broadsword. I know they contacted Genesis to make them rename from Origins. Perhaps they have threatened and will find a way to press with something legal if Uth releases with 1000+ pop.

True, Blue has refused most offers over the years, which is something I blame him for, to some degree - Uthgard needed fresh blood (coders) and failed to find a recruitment scheme to make that happen. Which, I think, was partly due to Blue not being to keen to focus on project management rather than coding himself. If you want to build something big, you eventually have to transition into a leadership role, and that also means letting go of some of the "basic" stuff.

You want a tinfoil hat to go with that order of conspiracy theory? Uthgard had player numbers of > 1.000 a few years ago. It's downfall was completely home made (poor management and lack of time). They committed to the "classiv revamp" without having the time to actually implement it. So all players got was a gradually deteriorating game play experience without any of the defining features that would have made this acceptable. And, most likely, the same issue keeps it from re-opening now.

haha, my theory is no more stupid than anyone else's.

The difference is a few years ago DAOC was run by EA who couldn't give a rats ass about it (a few hundred less players on the grand scheme of things for them is pennies). Now it is under Broadsword who are actively developing the game, and they will be wondering for sure why there is a shard taking possible subs away from them. I would anyway.

As I said, there is proof that they contacted Genesis over the name Origins, so maybe it is something related and Blue doesn't want a law suit on his hands. As with everything on the forums at the moment, people just want some truth and all this would go away.

In this case I guess he would've turned the 'donate' button off...

Mythic has been pretty tolerant about this whole freeshard stuff and has, afaik, only ever said "as long as this is not used to make money, fine". Not sure if EA would really care - but regarding Origin/genesis specifically, that was certainly because EA had plans in the drawer to open a "DAoC origins" server themselves. Obviously, they cannot have a freeshard capitalize on that.

depending on where the server is located... EA cant do ******.

and lastaard u rly need to get ur head around the fact that uthgard is not made for the players lol, it has its community based on reliability and reputation for descent and accurate patch level goals that get met.

blue has given into demands a few times over the years but that doesnt mean uthgard can be manipulated by us the players.

dnt get me wrong though if uthgard wasnt blues baby and he was open to all source's of help it would be much better for us.
