I think it's just less frustrating that way, at least for me. The loyalty of this community is exemplary, but one has to counterbalance it to preserve one's sanity. Checking every day for news, as I had done for over a year, is simply an exercise in masochism. Even the Grab Bags don't help much without an ETA.

Meanwhile, Lethantis really deserves more attention. Obviously they aren't at a stage of perfection that Uthgard once possessed, but it isn't Genesis either. These people are dedicated, communicative and efficient. The speed of development is truly astounding. While you're waiting, give it a shot.

The loyalty of this community is awesome, it'true ... what a shame!
BTW thank you for the hint about Lethantis, I will have a look.

i also stopped holding my breath for uthgard although i do want to play again ! i dnt check in here daily no more since forums are full of comments and bs just not worthy of my attention. i oftern get ppl asking me how uthgard is going and the same ppl cant be bothered to filter though uthgard forums for progress updates. grab bags are abit vague for my liking but i seek out additional info on the irc channel http://www.uthgard.net/irc

perhaps trishan could put together a summery of the revamp, i.e everything that was on the to do list and put the completed tasks in a green font and keep the things still needing to be done in a red font. u will be able to work out for urself how far they've got and how far they have yet to go without having to read hundreds of pages.

Inquiring about updates here is like trying to get blood from a stone.

Yeah right... We cant get 5 sentences out of him for a grab bag in a month and a half, you really think that Trishin or someone else going to sit there and type a summary of a revamp for us? Stop kidding yourself, man...

I once read a book by Nate Silver called "Signal and the Noise". Its a book about statistics etc. in that book he says "if you don't know the answer to something assume status quo" because if its been that way for such a long time, then chances are it will continue to be that way..

/cry

I can see myself checking this site everyday until I grow grey hairs. Or even better checking this site until I die and still seeing the same grab bag. Sad thing is I probably will be...

People are talking about the time since the last grab bag... problem is that the time since the last actual news is over 4 months

I am somewhat proud about myself that the urge to play daoc is not big enough anymore to log in to every oh-look-I-have-started-DOL-server

genesis is already a pain and won't cease to be in foreseeable time. the infinitesimal progress they make on techside, they screw up with gm/mod douchebaggery extraordinaire.
its the common problems we've seen so often about all shards, except uthgard.

so what do you think? when will lethantis resemble a playable environment? 2021?

It is already infinite times more playable than Uthgard.

Genesis was different at the start than 99% of freeshards. They brought in a ton of people and probably have turned a ton of people off of freeshards. Uthgard wasn't around to capitalize.
