I am baffled at the short memory people have in regards to new DAoC DoL servers ... over the years nearly all projects which tried to get a halfway decent, playable server up failed because their staff/dev teams did not have the endurance to fix all the shortcomings of the DoL engine.
Uthgard 1.0 already did by far the best job back then, even with those custom changes (not all good in my view) Blue and the Uthgard team had by far the best (and most populated) DAoC server.
When Genesis was hyped up and a lot of people moved there Uthgards team picked imho the right time to start working on Uthgard 2.0.

So now we again have new "great' servers with enthusiastic GM/dev teams, who will after a while figure out that the work to establish and maintain a bug free, playable DAoC server is a lot of work and takes a long time.
While I wish them all the best I fear they will go the same way so many did, after they figure out the actual workload and time needed to do it their enthusiasm will sadly fade.

So I am holding out for Uthgard 2.0, go team Uthgard

hmm new server, thats a dilemma, I don't like dilemmas.

First and foremost, Uthagrd is/was tried and true for quality, reliability, and longevity. No doubt about that. Don't want to invest precious time on a server that isn't.

However, there's a flipside to that coin..

Us, as DAOC enthusiasts, have witnessed over many years, shiny new MMO's come and go by dozen. Never matching up to DAOC.
The same can be said for freeshards(compared to UTH). These scenarios have happened so many times, that we have mentally evolved and adapted to just saying, "meh, it will fail like the one before it"

BUT!, One of these days, something just might stick.

Made my day, ofc it will be fixed and reach a state of development like Uthgard someday if staff continues their work, but that would take plenty of years and I see a big starve of daoc free shards when Uthgard will be back.

There isn ´t enough daoc interested players to fill 3-4 shards with good population health so there will be probably a lone survivor in long terms and that will be Uthgard 2.0, I guess.
