Abydos, were you ever on UOSA? (Ultima Online Second Age)

I think the devs are doing what they can to communicate. Some people might not like grab bags, but that might be the best news that is available. People were flaming the devs for not communicating now they're saying that what they're communicating isn't good enough. I can see why they might feel like they can't win, people really need to cut them some slack.

There are arguments either way for whether or not the devs should put out an ETA. In some ways, people would be annoyed if they missed it. But from the other side of the argument, right now it seems to most people like this will simply never be finished, and I think people are worried about that. Uthgard is the only classic daoc server which people really want to play, the only one with staff who are committed to creating a classic experience. If Uthgard doesn't work then maybe nothing will.

As it stands, I don't see what would be lost by getting the server to a purely playable point right now, putting it back up, and working on patches incrementally. I think working towards an arbitrary goal isn't helping anyone. Ok, the devs wanted to reach a certain point before rerelease. But if that is taking longer than they thought, then maybe it's time to get the server going again for the sake of the community. Because if the population is too low, it won't matter what features aren't implemented. No one wants to play on an empty server.

Staff can ´t be blamed nor the community can for some ppl getting impatient because of the long duration the server isn ´t running, it can ´t be helped.

Staff decided to go a very ambitious way as they decided to create a pure 1.65 classic server with old setting and that takes more time then expected but it ´s for a good reason to provide a great service when it ´s finally done at least.

There ´s much work left to do and it ´s very complicated to make any sayings when it will be finished. Everyone with a small knowledge of coding knows it ´s really hard to get any clear date out of it and this is just a free project with limited human ressources, so the repeated question for an ETA isn ´t useful, if they would know, they would of course tell us, right?

Abydos made a point it will be "probably" released this year and shorter then 6 months. Fair enough, ppl should be ok with it, it ´s not an ETA but it ´s better then nothing, and the grab backs aren ´t that bad, I made an overview and most of the valid questions are already answered. Staff made a big improvement in communication, thats ´s great so don ´t cut their arms off when they give you a hand.

No I haven't played UO since before playing T4C, which was before EQ, which was obviously before DAOC

just want to kill people, but no way am I leveling a toon to 50 there.

I know their server sucks. but I just hope when uth opens back up there are enough of us still around to even play.

Think about it. Genesis had that much on opening day and that was for a server that was shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...

And they've had nearly 2 years to turn people off of freeshards so...

Thats a valid point. Not everyone that started on genesis and got disappointed will try a freeshard again i guess.

No one has ever said that we are entitled to an ETA. A lot of people have asked for it, but no one thinks they're entitled to it.

You don't have to say "I'm entitled" to give off an entitled impression. It's not like people are politely and understandingly asking when the server might reopen. A lot of the asking tones are drizzled with frustration and demand.

Edit: In saying that I understand why people are frustrated, but it still doesn't warrant the entitlement. I don't want to tell people what to do, but I haven't had a hard time finding other things to keep me busy while waiting for the server to reopen so it will be a pleasant surprise and a bonus when it eventually does.

The portal to the realms have not been opened. But I'm sure many of us are at the gates waiting. I see hundreds of people around me gather at the gate wishing for the day it will re-open once again...
