Do we have an official confirmation that si will be up in 2 months after launch? I might have missed it. ![]() |

It's been 2-3 years since SI was supposed to be "finished", I assume it'll be a lot longer than 2 months.

Yeah, that's what I was figuring too. That's why it's important to have the s/c charge available to all realms at launch. ![]() |

Not saying this won't be the case, just trying to open the discussion up a bit.
Why is it important Baman? Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

Well, assuming that it's a 75 str/con charge... Even if an alb specs thrust, they still need strength and 75 con is a huge difference in hp. To have mids able to easily obtain that big of an advantage in 1v1 would cause unbalanced solo pvp. Because of this, more people may decide to play midgard causing even further population disparity.

We all know you just want such an item for your minstrel Baman, keep it in your pants braw, you ll get one with the release of SI - Honey Badgers

Is solo PvP the most important aspect of DAoC? And couldn't you argue that say the fact that Infs have access to double PA, and nightshades to stuff like crit dots / debuffs, is a reason that SB needs a buff compared to them?
Again, I need to point out that I am not saying this will be the case, I am just trying to give the debate some different perspectives. Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

[generalistic thought]
Funny, first people™ says that things between realms shouldn't be balanced nor fair, then people™ will probably complain for unbalances or lack of parks between realms! [/generalistic thought] Btw, Trishin, you guys still can't gave us an aproximate period for the release? I mean at least something vague like "not more than XX months/days/years", but just to put something on the table after more than a year watching out of the window for nothing (yet).. you know.. something. (I perfectly know that "its done when its done", but since SI won't be part of Uth2.0 launch, and RAs have been already done (according to a previous news), i think that it might be time to give some info regarding the remaining time till the opening, don't you guys think?) There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

Well, the same could be said if someone is playing a mid or hib character, they would be perfectly happy with albs not having the buff.
For some people it is. For the rest of people to whom it's not important, this won't make a difference to group combat. And late at night, when there's 200-300 people on and only 4 of them are out in rvr soloing becomes important.
Well infi isn't the only thing someone can solo on. A player playing, for example, an armsman unbuffed vs a fully buffed warrior is at a huge disadvantage. You can also make the argument that, because we are starting off with the Shrouded Isles patch and shrouded isles classes and that patch had str/con charges for albs, maybe mythic intended to rebalance things by giving albs access to str/con charge as a counter for SI classes. So I feel that if you're going to be introducing those classes, it makes sense to also give the str/con charge. Either that or don't introduce bds/necro/etc. until after "SI comes out." ![]() |

Groups used S/C charges in RvR as well, it's not a solo thing even though it was more important on Uth 1.0 due to buff shear.
Not that I care much but it can make the difference if you have a S/C charge as a backup if your cleric / druid dies. ![]() <<< This avatar is handmade by Inotor Wurzelbert : ) Check out the Mampfer-Threads for more. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25079 viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26934 |

I LOVED classic DAoC the most.
I would still say certain things should be left out even though they might have been available at that time. The staff needs to decide on Balance (yes balance is important or casuals will quit). A majority of players who are new(er) will have no idea how to get a buffing item of +75. Veterans will know exactly where to go to farm it immediately upon launch of its available. I'm not sure how you are encouraging new(er) players to stay on Uth 2.0 with this reasoning. Just remove buffing items completely of this caliber. Yep that is custom but for "fairness" you DO need to do a few custom things. I hate it when someone says stay classic at ALL costs. Sorry but that's gonna really drive away a lot of players when they get frustrated. Lots of things from Classic would be better off changed to a degree. Somethings they are already adding (titles) and somethings they haven't said yet. If the game is not kept balanced people are gonna play only the OP classes from classic and other classes will be very few. Veterans will destroy all new(er) players immediately upon launch and as long as the server stays up. I expect a Vet to win most RvR fights against me...what gets really tiring though is knowing that any player I attack might be so well geared with stuff I don't even remember existed to the point that I never drop them below 10% health. They will be so buffed with charges and have every resist right from the beginning. Yes a new(er) player has it available to them but there is a difference between available and reasonable. If you removed ALL buff charges/pots from the game and simply only made them available through players playing a buffing class...that makes it fair across the board. If you make it so people can get buff pots/charge items then you make ti fair to all vets/elite players and you isolate the new(er) players from any chance at success. I wish buff shears were removed also but that's a personal opinion. Now the staff may or may not agree with the buffing solution but they certainly need to decide what to keep from Classic and what to change. yes the staff SHOULD change stuff that needed to be changed from Classic. |

iirc there was no shears in classic ![]() It's the thrill of the chase
