To be honest I don ´t understand why this str/con charge discussion is so high priority by staff and community.
Staff is so careful with avoid any custom solutions and about the charges they want to make an expception. How many players are effected by this and is a str/con charge item absolute necessary for winning? It ´s nice to have them but you can win fights without a str/con charge too.

These charges are important for solo players, mainly stealthers and It will take it ´s time until the ppl are able to make decent temps for their toons, and even then if these charges are available only a few players may have them. When SI is out, many players will build new temps as well.

Like I have said, I'm not coming back, and I'm 100% not trying to change anyone's minds on the reason why I'm not. I am just putting my 2 cents in on how they may want to redo it so another player doesn't have to go through a reset again

I like your posts, but I don ´t understand why you care when you don ´t want to play anyway. I don ´t think we will have another reset. If Uthgard 2.0 is going down, it will be probably closed forever someday.
If you see how long Uthgard exists and how many games passed by, I can just congratulate and say thanks for such wonderful years and being part of daoc history. Even if Uth 2.0 is going down quicker then Uth 1.0 , it ´s just a game and life will go on, nothing lasts forever.

The stupid thing is basically a requirement to solo.

This right here would be the best solution. The only "customization" would be a lack of str/con charges for Midgard that existed Pre-SI, but it truly is a customization that would not then be looked at as a "benefit" to players who will play on Uthgard at the new opening as opposed to players that came in after SI will be released.

To implement easy to get s/c charge items for the other realms would be just the same custom solution as to remove all s/c charges, or to implement rp while dead or no rp for gray or whatever custom solution.
I have learned: If we want classic daoc, then we have to live with the unbalanced parts of classic daoc.

Or maybe there even was some sort of masterbrain at mythic, who considered sb and hunter the weakest stealther. So midgard deserved an easy to get s/c charge. Although I also doubt this, who can tell

I would not mess with those settings with custom stuff.

Well, some things will always remain custom because ppl knew how things have been but can ´t find a proof for it because not every change was documted by patchnotes and things from the start haven ´t been explained anyway.
I made some research and it ´s really hard work to get alternative sources instead to patch notes. You ´ve to read many forums and so on and I dunno if staff would accept them as source to make any change, players can be wrong. I ´m waiting until staff is asking for some help by researching special topics.

But meanwhile I accepted,- and have a better understanding of he policy of the staff and what their major goals are, because they are explaining their thoughts now.

I ´m honest that the Uthgard 1.0 setting was way better for myself with some custom settings in it, but I think at least the difference between 1.0 and 2.0 might not be as big as expected.

At least we know what we get and what to expect,- a hardcore classic server with all it ´s annoyances and Joys and I hope many ppl give it a try.

Jerrian (or anyone else), if you have something you find interesting (like an item we didn't have on 1.0, a mechanic that you think was bugged, etc.) feel free to research and present it to us. We will very much listen to that, and give you feedback. This might be that the evidence provided isn't enough, or that we will take on from there and do some more research of our own, or that your research is flawless and this will be changed. We will also gladly guide you in what kind of questions you need to answer before we can actually implement something.

My point really is, please go ahead and research. We always love to look at what you guys are able to find even though it might not always result in a change on Uthgard.
Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

remind me again who gets what and who dnt get squat in terms of charges.

remember alb is caster heavy, and in terms of their stealth grps they have the mincer ( 3rd stealther )

all mid melee benifit strength only

all hib melee can choose to benifit from dex = dmg instead of strength only. the only strength only hib melee char has a s/c selfbuff.

logic dictates mid recieve s/c charge, albs and hibs dnt. but hibs would be viable for one.

p.s DAoC clearly does not mirror its realms class's / items / ABILITYS ( im realy suprised lack of mirrored abilitys between realms dont override the items subject, for example mids have celerity ) why not give all realms celerity, or remove mids. OR nerf it a little to make me feel better. and u can apply that thought to every non mirrored aspect of daoc.

better to do what holsten said, touch nothing if it results in custom, ya never know, it just might be part of daocs masterplan.

Is all about this. Everyone remember the daoc expecience because IT WASN'T BALANCED. The players were challenged founding how to balance themselves through something called skill.

All this shi.t about balancing is coming out from other games aka WOW and stuff like that.

Please staff keep that in mind, the target is Old daoc feeling, not to meet the community expectations. Is the community that needs to bend before Daoc not vice versa

Well, they probably didn't think about it at all because everyone was just running buffbots anyway. It wasn't on their balance radar for a second cause it was irrelevant in that environment.

Actually the implementation and distribution of the Items with S/C charges was made before mythic even realised what buffbots are (or how much money they could make with them).

At least as far as I know the Items never changed since charges got implemented (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ...).

With SI all 3 realms have access to an easy to get S/C charge and Midgard even has one in a classic zone. They can either do what they did last time or not, up to them I guess.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc

[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck

Why are you even wasting time on those "buff issues" I don't even know. With SI every realm will have access to that goddamn s/c charge, and I'm pretty sure SI will come out just in time for you all to get it. Au contraire the staff will provide a decent solution (maybe SI drop on Legion until SI is live&working?)

Now calm your tits please, it's getting ridiculous~

Yeah, but it wasn't long until people started using them. My point is they probably would have thought more about balancing it later if it wasn't for buffbots. The only place in old daoc where anyone would have actually used buff charges was mordred and people had access to all 3 realms there.

Now if you're gonna deprive certain realms of a str/con charge simply for the sake of being 100% classic, you damn well better implement poisoned weapon trading cause taking them away on live was literally a POST-LOTM CHANGE!

(I'm not actually advocating for poison weapons but just demonstrating that sometimes a small custom change for fairness can be a good thing.)

To be completely honest Jerrian, I love DAoC. It is hands down the best game I have every played and nothing else even comes close. The reason I care is multifaceted. The main one being that even though I have zero intention of playing here again, I do still genuinely care about the server and the players that I played with over the years. Hence the reason I would like them to do Uthgard 2.0 "right" the first time and prevent issues from Uthgard 1.0 from reoccuring. The second reason is honestly because I love to discuss things like this. Alot of this stuff doesn't have a "right" or "wrong" answer to it. Its more of a gray area of what players perceive and right and wrong mixed with whatever they can recall from live. This makes for lively debates, which I love having.

In answer to your statement about you don't think there will be another reset, I counter with the fact that I never seen an initial reset coming. I pointed out numerous occasions where the GM's had said over the years that there would NEVER be a reset. Yet, all it took was the right set of circumstances mixed with a successful launch of a new freeshard and suddenly the reset was happening. I tend to agree with you, as I don't see another reset as being inevitable, but to say it won't happen is just burying your head in the sand.

The best way I can summarize this is the old saying of, "Measure twice and cut once," when carpenters are cutting boards up. If you are going to do something do it right so you only have to do it once. If the server is doing to restart I would prefer for all of you to have it done right so there is no chance of a reset.

Edit: @ Holsten- I see your and Svp's side of it and think either change would be fine. If you want to go with the "live-like" route on the S/C charges I would see no issue in that. It IS the way it was prior to SI. I was just saying that the only custom solution that made sense to me was removal of all the high end S/C charges since nobody could say older players had a "benefit" compared to newer players.

@ all the players asking about why the S/C charge is a big deal. READ WHAT I SAID. This server was reset essentially from 2 major things. Custom Changes that were removed at later times, meaning old players had advantages new players did not (S/C items, Tajendi Items, bugged drops, Jousting items, and countless other issues), and the start up of a new server which decimated the population. If the main reason new players were upset and didn't want to come because of custom changes that were changed then why do this again? Thats why its important.

There is no 'depriving' any realm whatsoever, that's just the loot you could collect in that very patch level. Either you agree with it or not, SI will come out and everyone will have access to that charge. Will you be able to play in the meanwhile? Hell yeah.
