So go play other games. I have made a huge dent in my backlog since I quit Genesis like a week after it launched. Haven't been back, don't miss it.

Completely agree, I sure wouldn't ruin my feeling of Darkage by playing on a terrible server like Genesis. When Uthgard comes back it will have been over a year since I last played. I am looking forward to the newness of it again. I have TONS of other games I enjoy and I never put all my eggs in one basket. |

Yeah, thats might work for someone that play as "solo"/"alone" but since i usually play with a circle of friends/guildies that like to play DAoC (as much as i like ofc), i (we) keep playing there, since there is nowhere else to go (..wonder who we should blame for that ![]() At least till CU comes out, but i hope that uthgard will open before 2016 at least -_-" There was a time when Uthgard 1.0 existed and maaaany toons and arrpees arose... but now:

I wasn't aware DAoC was the only team game in existence. If you want good fantasy PvP try Smite. its pretty amazing.

It is the best and by how games are being designed it will stay the best. Sure there might be other games that are hard, but none have the same group synergy that DAoC has and that's what keeps me coming back. The 8v8 is what makes me come back. |

Genesis is not DAoC. The only other MMO I've ever enjoyed PVP in was "Tabula Rasa". Sure, it was very basic, quite easy, and more of a rock-paper-scissor-style, but PVP anywhere, everywhere if engaged in a 'ClanWar' had a very special taste to it. Noone cried when you launched a rocket into an enemy that had been only lvl 15 while you were 50, just because of your ways crossed somewhere in the world. Sooner or later you were hit that very same way. Maybe this was the main aspect for enjoyment, that very mature community, something you do not have anymore anywhere nowadays. Albion Forever!

So maybe I am mislead... What exactly does this statement mean then? "We are also aware of the str/con charge availability problem that rises from this situation and will provide a proper solution for all realms." So what will the proper solution be? The last "proper solution" was to make a Str/Con charge necklace drop off in DF and removal from all the normal mobs from Midgard. Is that not a custom solution Skarz? Now I fully agree, if they release it with Midgard having the proper charges and making everything live like without SI then you will have some balance issues, but at least it will be "live-like". I take back all of my statements if that is the case. However, I did not see anywhere from the GM's that would be the case. The statement they made seems to me to point in the direction of another custom fix much like before until SI gets introduced. Also, as you point out that my point is "lame, whiny, boring, said millions of times before" yet you left one major thing out about my point.... ITS RIGHT. The logic given for the reset was imbalance introduced by custom changes over the years. Yet, they want to restart the server literally on the same broken foot that caused this reset. Get it through your head Skarz, I'm not coming back. I know this. What I want to know is why push the server back out unless you are going to do it right. The reason for most of you is simple. Its greed. Its, "Oh I want my DAoC fix and I want it now! Genesis is not doing it for me. Its so bugged and messed up..." Yet you are asking the GM's to do exactly what Genesis did and make a server that is not ready for release so you can start playing again. Call it what you will, but there is a world of difference between me complaining about the reset (which I'm not in this thread) and me pointing out the lunacy of going through all of this trouble in resetting only to start the server off on the wrong foot again. If you wish to play on a server that follows in Genesis steps and in 1 year time is down to horrible number then by all means, keep pushing for an early release when the server is not ready. |

How can you even say that? Removed drop exploits. Removed imbalanced/old/custom items. Removed a RP formula giving too much rp. All of these are "issues from the past" that we are getting rid of by a server reset! So please, don't say that we are at the same point as we were before a reset! We are clearly not. uthgard is not perfect, i dnt think anyones said it was, but they aim to be livelike which for me is aiming for perfection. im sure given the chance to get everything complete and to live standards back in the day over night they would. but its an on going project. with rescently taking a massive step in the right direction with a revamp.
the list of benifits for wipe is pretty big, trishan mentions a few big ones. BUT if on the relaunch uthgard staff decide to give in to previous demand and implement custom items or removing items for balance due to some realms being spoilt for choice with a great selection of equipment with the much desired charges then i absolutly agree with u roneluvv thats a step in the wrong direction. theres no proof this will be the case on relaunch and judging by the momentum in the right direction uthgard has taken i doubt they will make such decissions. livelike = win - like it or lump it. If they removed the 75 s/c charge from all 3 realms I would not shed a tear. That is a custom solution I can get behind.
The stupid thing is basically a requirement to solo.

@ Trishin- I apologize that I probably came off as sounding like all the work you guys did does not solve any issues. I did not mean it to sound that way. I think all of the changes you have announced are indeed great steps to making the server that you have been working towards. My comment was that if you are not implementing a server with all of its main content at the restart that you may be leading yourself down another bad road and towards another eventual reset once that new content comes out, or even worse, implementing known custom "fixes" that eventually lead to new players being upset.
This right here would be the best solution. The only "customization" would be a lack of str/con charges for Midgard that existed Pre-SI, but it truly is a customization that would not then be looked at as a "benefit" to players who will play on Uthgard at the new opening as opposed to players that came in after SI will be released. Like I have said, I'm not coming back, and I'm 100% not trying to change anyone's minds on the reason why I'm not. I am just putting my 2 cents in on how they may want to redo it so another player doesn't have to go through a reset again. |

Concerning the item buff charges, for once I tend to agree with the radicals. Charges are only necessary because the other side also has them, like a miniature Cold War arms race, a further obstacle in joining big-boy RvR. Since a custom solution is required even when they are introduced (adding more to some realms), I don't see why we can't get rid of the problem altogether. They are in nature very similar to buffbots, something this server has rightly abhorred.
Due to game knowledge, mechanical abilities etc., skilled players are more likely to beat casuals anyway, there is no need to widen the gap even further. And we need those casuals to settle in, and become addicted. As I hinted at in my last post, some solutions have more long-term benefits. Although the hardcore crowd will lose a short-term edge in the fight (since they are the most likely to acquire items with charges asap), they benefit by wasting less time in PvE (> more PvP action), knowing that their victory is purely down to skill rather than a charge-imbalance, and by having more enemies in the long-term (casuals are more likely to stay on the server if they feel on an equal footing). There is fortunately a simple test due to the later release of SI: On classic release, no charges are available on any items. The effects on RvR are monitored, as well as the forums (along with the inevitable Ranger threads). Are the effects beneficial or harmful overall? harmful > introduce charges with SI beneficial > keep them out |
