Spring news!

No, SI wasn't the point. Fixing mechanics and adding incredibly complex systems that we couldn't do online was the point. I'll point you back to the previous news posts about pathing, necromancer, old RA, rvr setting changes, and other stuff. |

You guys are doing a Great Job. It has Been a long wait, yet I believe it will be worth it. I can't wait to play again.
I have checked this forum and read every post since the day the server went down, its nice to see we are this close. Now that the staff is much more active on the forums its shows how close your team is to launch. Good job guys, Keep us updated on your plans for launch and Beta info, as well as any other updates. It would be nice to give some notice that way we can start the Hype!! I'll definitely be Supporting/Donating to these guys once the server launch is announced!! Keep up the Good Work!! Thank you for spending so much of your own time to create a gaming server for us! |

Yeah, I wouldn't call Genesis "working" ![]() ![]() |
|
Sure SI is nice but I wont be doing PVE much anyhow. All I really care about is working mechanics like Melee damage, Defpen, and Casting which I miss so much after playing on genesis. I only did SI a few times and it was for Quest and dungeon. I ended up leveling in frontier as the bonus makes it less of a grind. SI is nice but it doesn't make a great DAoC server (Genesis is proof). |
|
But some ppl like to do pve, it ´s rare but there are some ppl like me and many of those ppl like SI. SI will come anyway so it ´s no use at all to call it useless. It ´s nice to make big raids in the Boss dungeons and the quests there are the best ones of daoc with fair rewards. Even if you don ´t like SI, you might maybe like the random drops and the drops from the dungeons to build your template and give it a better utility and optic flair. I really appreciate we ´ll get SI as add on, it the best expansion of daoc in my opinion and it really fits to a classic shard to give it a better look. But it will take probably 6+ months until it ´s finished, so don ´t expect it be released quickly after relaunch. |

What Jerrian says. DAoC was SO awesome because you could RvR OR PvE. I want the option for both. I still want to farm gear or xp for alts. I want to get on some days and just kill in PvE and other days I want to RvR and get my ass kicked.
I hope they keep a good combination of both. I don't mind waiting for SI at all as long as it will be coming within the first 6-12 months or so. |

This. Occasionally I have had the suspicion that some changes have been implemented in order to steer the population in a certain direction, which just causes a mismatch of expectations and clashes of opposing sides throwing mud at eachother because some peoples fences are too high around their playstyle (be it pvp or pve). Please do not restrict any parts of the game in any ridicoulus way you might try to 'tailor' a solution for the population to drive them in a certain direction. People will first and foremost play the way they find enjoyable. If that playstyle is taken away, the only natural outcome is that some people will ditch playing while others will _settle_. I'm uncertain if it is redundant to say this, but I felt like it, so whatever, ****** you ^^ (/s) A good example of this, I believe, was the removal of Thidranki (44-49 BG). After having been used to it being around, and the server having reached a certain level of maturity player-rr-experience-wise, the removal was a bit over the top. Even though I just used it to get 4L2 (to stand a fighting chance) and my end-goal was always 50 rvr, I still felt like this was too drastic on top of everything else. Anyways, with a new start and a new set of rules, there's a chance to seriously consider what you offer the players in terms of reaching the high-rr players level a bit. No doubt you get a longer way faster with old RA's, which might be a good thing for a DAoC server nowadays as people have been honing their skills in the game for the past 14-15 years like it was the cure for cancer. Including myself. A BG or any other means of reaching rr4 beside level 50 rvr would really suit me well. I am good at this ****** and I would feel it was a drag had I no opportunity but to go out and face the music at rr3. But then again I'm not much for grouping (which refers back to my point of not restricting playstyles! :p) but seriously- open it. Uth1: Equade rr10 ranger, Fight rr7 sb, Sinwar rr6 thane
Genesis: Swift rr7 champ, Reaperinho rr6 vw, Sinwar rr5 eld Uth2: NS, VW and Eld |

Damn..I can't believe it...
I getting a good social life atm... if Uthgard show up again... i can tell to my girlfriend to go back to his home's parents, i dont need her anymore. |

My very first post ever on this forum was suggesting thid not cap 49 4L2 but 50 5L0. It makes me sense because you really should have your rr5 in emain. It helps tons along with the 8 extra points.

Pathing Is in? So No more mobs running through walls and exploiting pet owners and their group mates throwing pets on people inside closed keeps? |
|
This has always been a sore spot for me. Allow players to hit 49 and 5L0 if possible. At 5L0 Ding they are booted. This lets these people play with similar RvR levels before getting thrown to the wolves. Do NOT allow players to /rp off so they can't stay in a certain BG. I know I asked before and you answered in one way...but a response you had kinda made me wonder. The Dev's here say that they want people to realize that if they want the frontiers experience they have to expect to be grey ganked. Why? Why does Uthgard AND Genesis both have the same philosophy? Not the grey ganking part...I get that. The experience part? If you put the best xp in the frontiers as bait of course your gonna have people running out there all the time and complaining about being ganked. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us level in the BG's. The BG's are a baby rvr grounds and by giving us enough xp to actually level in them this would encourage more people to play in them. If a leveling group is in a BG it gives all the realms a reason to join. Either to level themselves or to RvR. Either way we win. We get a VERY active BG as well as getting us prepared for big boy RvR. I would level exclusively in BG's if the xp is even remotely good. I am not asking for a 100% boost but make it reasonable enough that players will want to go there even at the risk of being attacked. It won't be an unreasonable thing to expect to be attacked and you would have less grey ganking in the frontiers if we had an altrernative. Personally I think DF should give the best xp and then Frontiers/BG's a close second. People could still hit dungeons for money/gear/xp when they simply don't want to RvR. |
|
If you really take some time to think about this, you most likely will find out why. And I am surprised no one has taken this argument to the table for everyone that complains about being killed in RvR zones. Surely some of you players must have realized what this game mechanic does. Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !
Uthgard Rules || How to connect || FAQ |

That would be remarkable. To be fair though, that was not simply an Uthgard problem, I remember seeing that, and doing it, for many years on Live (for many reasons, most often because it was the only way to kill those damn buffbots on Gareth in the battlegrounds), up to the day I quit live and joined Uthgard in 2008. I respect the staff on Uthgard too much to attempt it here (well, more than 1 or two times anyway ![]() |
|
Don't misunderstand me...I understand why grey ganking is ok...All is fair in love and war...and in DAoC we love war. My point was why not encourage more BG stuff. Not just a handful of fights...make xp good enough that lots of people want to be in BG's because the XP is really good...that in turn will bring people in for RvR. You will have a fun leveling experience while getting RvR in. Promoting frontiers as the best xp just brings the grey gankers to leveling spots and there is no chance for lowbies to get in on the action. BG's would be REALLY active if some decent effort was put into them. |
