This is the main reason I went stealth only and completely avoided visi RvR before I quit. If after January 2003 there was a nice 8 man scene I will take your word for it because I had cancelled my account at that point.

Divine? No wonder you only encountered zergs, there was plenty of 8v8 on Merlin, you havent done it is most likely because of the guild you were a part of. Drutt was only one of the gms and what i remember best was the +1hour teamspeak recording of him going crazy :p haha

So wait if I was in a different guild, I WOULDN'T have been zerged down by 5+ fg of mids every single time I went to AMG. Gotcha, cuz mids were checking albion guild on the herald before they attacked. That made sense.

Maybe there were super-secret throw-down 8 mans in the middle of nowhere set up in advance but if so I never heard about it.

Since you were on Merlin, I always wondered what happened to Dakkon Rockshoe. The rumor was he was a 16 year old who dropped out of high school to play DAOC all day.

No clue if he was a 16 year old, never played with him!

All the others did not go to Emain....

i played on Italy first (at DaoC launch on blue rvr server) and later on USA (pvp mordred), never played Merlin.
but even if i agree that back on 2001-200x DAoC was "mostly" (not only) about zerg, was still lot and lot different
from new MMO i talked before (GW2/TESO + all the others i think).
on DAoC there always be hard CC and there always be ppls that like run solo/small men (usually on HW and/or OG).

DAoC always be cool & fun, even on zergs (just look at the classic youtube "Dem Hibbies vs zerg" ... and then
try find something similar on others MMO).

new MMO have no CC and are just a spam fest of ultimate/elite skills with zergs going over other zergs and with a
damn static (or, better, ZERO) char progression after lvl cap.
zero "charisma" of chars, all the same and higher numbers win (for sure there are good players on new MMO too, no
doubt, but DAoC is different).

so, on conclusion, even on Zerg DAoC still better and fun than all this new 201x crap MMO (on the pvp/rvr side).
if we talk about pve, i got fun on GW2 (played pretty deeper) and TESO too (not played mutch) and i must admit
pve is better than DAoC but, well, i think 99% of ppls that still play DAoC don't play it for pve ...

is the game ... now ppls don't want play anymore like this and that's why i hate all new MMO.
ppls want all the same chars, all the same skills/perks, no progression and just new stupid stuffs
like "skins" with zero impact on the gameplay.

MMO's are now just "CASUAL", this is how the gamplay is changed, and every new game is the same lol

Thanks for the update on your team's progress! I'm eager to roam the lands of yore on this server and I know a couple friends are interested as well. I'm happy Uthgard is keeping this memorable game pristine.

I've actually stopped trying out new games (Single player or MMO's) from large companies, instead I only look forward to smaller Indie companies because those games are normally so much better. It's funny how 5 people can make an awesome game, yet 200 people make garbage. The Big game companies make games for money and these small indie games are normally made by those who are passionate about their game.

I got my eye on No man's sky, might be worth investing some time to check it out.

I made quite some fortune on Lyonesse/Albion with Cloudsong cloaks. Had a lot of free time due to shift working and Nec/BB were parked there.

I somehow loved ToA. It was very amusing when I was planning to do some stuff with my Avalonian Polearmswoman and my other BB in Typhon's Reach, and right by entering the zone the encounter for Maddening Scalars spawned. I went to it, other BB's logging in around the encounter and just went for it. Placed my Power Field with the BB and had quite some audience watching ôô. All people that wanted to have that one aswell. But well, too late! At least I could continue getting the scrolls for it then, which was my goal at first anyways.

So much hate received these days ... =)
